Calla Lily

(Not currently naming…but dreaming of it!)

What do you think of [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or Calla-Lily? I feel like it’s normally a little too “sweet” for my tastes, but I’m crushing on it right now. I’d probably want to use [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] (as a first name) about half the time, and just [name_f]Calla[/name_f] the other half…

I like [name_f]Calla[/name_f], and I like [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but I don’t like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a name altogether. It seems more of a genus than a name. If you’re open to the idea of double middles, then maybe something like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] or [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] would appeal to you.

I can definitely see that, but I still somehow think it’s kind of a fun botanical name. But on a real life person, definitely something to take into account.

Thanks for commenting

I dislike the flow, as it is a bit heavy on the letter l.
I think @AStudyIn_Scarlet 's idea of double middles is good, though, and makes it work!

I think I prefer [name_f]Callie[/name_f] to [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]

like the previous poster, i also love calla and lily separately, but i don’t love them together. i love plant names but this feels a bit cutesy to me? and i also just don’t really like the flow with all the L sounds.

I like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]

I like them separately but too many Ls close together for a combo

[name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Tigerlily[/name_f]?

Instead if [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as I agree, it doesn’t flow nicely, how about…

[name_f]Caja[/name_f] ( [name_u]Kaya[/name_u] / [name_f]Kaja[/name_f] )
[name_f]Carmelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Carma[/name_f] ( [name_u]Karma[/name_u] )
Vanette
[name_f]Katerina[/name_f]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f] ( [name_f]Kara[/name_f] )

I feel like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is incomplete without [name_f]Lily[/name_f]!

I like it. Maybe hyphenated and I do like [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] better as a not frequently used botanical name but [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is fun to say, has good nns and goes well with a number of middle names. I’d probably call her [name_f]Callie[/name_f] and [name_f]Cala[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] but not [name_f]Cala[/name_f] too often.

Isnt it literally a type of lily? Definitely too much for me. I do like [name_f]Callie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillie[/name_f] a lot. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is pretty but sounds so much like the beginning of [name_u]California[/name_u] :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’d call her [name_f]Calla[/name_f], with a different middle, but use [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] as a home nickname :woman_shrugging:t3:

I like it spelled [name_f]Callalily[/name_f] as a GP name, but agree with other commenters it’s a bit much together in practice. [name_f]Calla[/name_f] is a gorgeous name alone (as is Lily).

I like [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f], in the same way I like [name_f]Peony[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] botantical names are beautiful

Toooo many L’s in a row for me! I get so tripped up saying that whole name together. Both are perfectly lovely on their own though, or perhaps as a middle name. :relaxed:

i love calla! however, calla lily is a little too much as a first name for me. i do like callalily as a middle name, though.

I would go with [name_f]Calla[/name_f] and consider a different middle. I like: [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f], [name_f]Calla[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u]

personally i like it! it doesn’t really roll off the tongue but i still think it’s nice, and i love how sweet it is! i feel like if an actual person had this name they would end up going by [name_f]Calla[/name_f] most of the time. some people suggest double middles or a different second but i feel like then it loses the charm of the plant connection! i love calla lilies
