I [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Cal[/name]. I always thought it was more of a nickname than a name, so I always imagined it as being short for [name]Callahan[/name], a name I also love. When I told my mom, she said, “That would be great if you married an Irish guy.” Apparently, [name]Callahan[/name] is a very Irish name. I don’t have any Irish background and my future children will most likely not be looking Irish. Is it still usable? Also, thoughts on [name]Cal[/name] and [name]Callahan[/name]?
It really depends on your last name since [name]Callahan[/name] doesn’t seem like it would flow with many last names. Personally with people picking names for the love of them and not their origin i say go for what you want, My name is [name]Kassandra[/name] which is Greek and we aren’t Greek at all. Plus I like the name [name]Callahan[/name].
There is also:
[name]Calvin[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Calder[/name]
[name]Cale[/name]
[name]Calhoun[/name]
[name]Callan[/name]
Callyx or Callis
Caldwell
[name]Calan[/name] ([name]Calen[/name])
[name]Caleb[/name]
I much prefer [name]Callaghan[/name] to [name]Callahan[/name]. Its too surnamey for my taste but [name]Cal[/name] is a very sweet nickname!
I can totally see the appeal of [name]Callahan[/name], and indeed it is very Irish. I would assume it was a family surname unless you told me otherwise. [name]Callum[/name] or [name]Callen[/name] would be more versatile. I just can’t get behind [name]Callahan[/name] unless it’s a family name, especially on a non-Irish child.
