Camilla pronunciation

Should this be pronounced Cuh-MEE-lah or Cuh-MILL-ah? Is it just a matter of personal preference, or is one way actually correct and the other incorrect?

I pronounce it Cuh-MILL-ah.

I always say it cah-MILL-ah. But the Spanish [name]Camila[/name] would be cah-MEE-lah, I think. One is more Spanish, and the other is more American, I always thought. I prefer [name]Camilla[/name], personally.

I agree with ashthedreamer. [name]Camilla[/name] is ka-[name]MIL[/name]-uh, and [name]Camila[/name] is ka-MEE-luh. Behindthename says [name]Camilla[/name] is also ka-MEE-luh in Italian.

I prefer [name]Camilla[/name] (ka-[name]MIL[/name]-uh), and I’ve grown to really like the name over the past couple years.

I think it’s a matter of preference. And where you’re from too. I pronounce it ka-MILL-uh.

I’ve never known any [name]Camilla[/name] in real life but the British “royal girlfriend” or whatever they call her is pronounced ca-mill-uh as well as the muppet chicken. It’s a pretty and uncommon name.

Cuh-MILL-ah, I have never heard it pronounced any other way.

I’ve always pronounced it cuh-MILL-ah. I recently met one pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable (like with camera or cat). Most people I know pronounce it the first way, I’ve noticed, though.

I agree that the American pn is cah-MILL-uh and the Italian/Spanish is cah-MEE-lah.
