I keep seeing posts about naming styles. Can someone list all of the naming styles they can think of and give examples?
I am not a naming expert by any means but here are some of the styles that I’ve heard of:
Classic- [name]Mary[/name], [name]Catherine[/name], [name]Henry[/name],[name]Oliver[/name]
Trendy - [name]Zephyr[/name], [name]Skye[/name], [name]Kane[/name], [name]Marley[/name], [name]Asher[/name]
Top 100 - [name]Ava[/name], [name]Madison[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Jacob[/name]
Here is a cool article I found about styles: http://pregnancy.about.com/cs/babynames/a/babynamestyle.htm
My old friend [name]Norah[/name] of NameNerds.com has a “Find Your Naming Personality Type” quiz on her website, which should give you an idea as to your naming style. You can take the quiz here:
Here is the url for the nameberry “hot lists,” a lot of sometimes very specific categories with names that are of the category.
The advanced search function:
Lists Classic, Vintage, Stylish, International, Avant-Garde, and Unisex as the 6 major “styles” with a lot of ways to get even more specific results (initial, origin, meaning, etc.).
Let me know if you want to hear more. You can look up “hot lists”. Look at the list on the left and go down to “hot lists”. Look up different lists of names. Each list is a different naming styles.
I did the quiz and the results said Classic Conservative which I would mostly agree with so all in all a pretty accurate quiz! recommended to everyone:)
Thanks everyone. [name]Nephele[/name], I took your friend’s quiz and it said 50% Classic Conservative and 25% Classic Unusual with smaller percentages (5-10%) for other categories. I will check out some of the other links as well.
I took the quiz and I’m classic unusual and classic eccentric. No surprise there!
