The character is a 42 year old man with short dark brown hair and hazel eyes. His hair is either a little floppy or hidden beneath a hat. He is 5’11” tall and has a moderately tanned, toned body. He usually wears plain dark shirts and always has on jeans. He alternates between Nikes and biker boots.
He is a pastry chef and is the owner of his bakery [name_m]Cave[/name_m] Cakes. He is a workaholic and has a hard time balancing his personal life with the store. Because of his business, he is an early bird, as well as a caffeine addict. His passion is elevating everyday desserts and giving them a new twist. If he’s not at home, he’s at work; he wants to take time off or travel, but he feels like he can’t leave [name_m]Cave[/name_m] Cakes behind for more than a day.
In the story, he is in a relationship with his longtime partner, [name_u]Jack[/name_u]. Growing up in a strict religious household with a physically abusive father and alcoholic mother, he resented his sexuality and repressed it until he was in his thirties. He’s been in love with [name_u]Jack[/name_u] since they were teenagers. With the repression of his sexuality comes the guilt of lying to himself and others his entire life. He now lives life openly, but sometimes it still hits him hard. He has panic attacks and is highly claustrophobic.
This character loves to get inside people’s head and really figure out what they’re truly thinking. He stops at nothing to get what he wants, and, because of this, his friends and co-workers call him a manipulator, even though his intentions are usually pure. He is quick to make decisions for everyone else. Most people don’t like that about him, but he likes that [name_u]Jack[/name_u] is okay with it because he loves to be in control. He gets overwhelmed really easily if he feels like he’s out of control.
He doesn’t like to leave anything unfinished. He loves math and enjoys calculating taxes and tips. In the story, he is trying to come to terms with both the death of his father, who attempted to make amends before he passed, and the recent downward spiral of Jack’s mental health that ultimately resorts in him kicking [name_u]Jack[/name_u] out of their house.
I’ve considered [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_m]Ben[/name_m], [name_u]Noah[/name_u], and [name_m]Rob[/name_m] for him, but none of those names have stuck. Does anyone have any new suggestions for his name?
