Can Euphemia Work?

I cannot seem to get [name]Euphemia[/name] out of my head lately! I think it is so melodic and beautiful and comes with [name]Effie[/name], [name]Mia[/name] and [name]Phemie[/name] as more lively NNs. WDYT? Too much name or can it work?

I think it can work. This name has entered my head lately too, so maybe I am just being biased. I love all its nickname options: [name]Effie[/name], Phemia, Femia, [name]Fifi[/name], [name]Mia[/name]. The possibilities are endless.

I’ve never heard this name before, but all I can think of when I see it is euphemism. That being said, I’m a fan of more classic names, so I’m probably not the best person to weigh in.

I remember a [name]Euphemia[/name] from the movie [name]True[/name] Women (I think that is the title) and she went by [name]Phemie[/name]. I really liked her character and I think them could definitely work. If [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Beatrice[/name] work, then [name]Euphemia[/name] works! You already have [name]Mia[/name] on your list so you could just use [name]Mia[/name] as [name]Euphemia[/name]'s NN

I think [name]Euphemia[/name] is fabulous - then again, I’m honestly a fan of almost all the Eu- names, even [name]Eunice[/name]. There’s something so antique and interesting about them. I think it can definitely work.

Yes, especially with all those adorable nicknames.

It’s so interesting to wonder how masses of parents take to such long old names as [name]Alexandra[/name] and [name]Victoria[/name] and then shy away from others like [name]Thomasina[/name] or [name]Euphemia[/name]. I just don’t like it but can’t offer a good reason. I do [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Eulalie[/name] and [name]Eugenie[/name], though.

My fiance’ said no to the name because he thinks she will be made fun of. It also reminds him of the anime: Code Geass, which is fairly popular and one of the main girl characters names was [name]Euphemia[/name].

I also like [name]Wilhelmina[/name], but that was dissed too, so it has instead turned into the main character of a novel I am writing.

I have an aunt who is named [name]Effie[/name]. So maybe to avoid made fun of, go with just the shorter versions? I really like [name]Euphie[/name], but like I said, my fiance’ dissed the name, so it most likely will end up being one of my pet’s names instead… unless someone can persuade him, but I think my family would all think it was weird too… their pretty traditional.

I agree. It’s obviously a legitimate name, but I too don’t care for it.

Thanks ladies! I am really thinking I will add it to my list as a replacement for [name]Mia[/name] and still use [name]Mia[/name] as the NN
