I really want to use the name [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] as it has a lot of history in my family. I like the nickname [name_f]Dora[/name_f] and would probably use this first but I know it would most likely get shortened to [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] more than anything and I also like it as a nickname, however her surname would rhyme with [name_f]Dot[/name_f] so does this automatically make [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] unusable?
Since it’s a nickname, I don’t think it’s unusable! If you’re worried about it, [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] for [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is definitely avoidable, but if you do want to use it, you can.

I think it would be fine as it’s a nickname and would actually be quite cute! I’ve also seen [name_f]Dolly[/name_f], [name_f]Thea[/name_f] & [name_u]Rory[/name_u] suggested as [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] nicknames, in case you like any of those!
I think it’s absolutely usable. I don’t think it’s a problem at all, especially because it’s only a nickname.
[name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] is a wonderful name with a great meaning.
PS. I also love [name_u]Rory[/name_u] as a possible nicknames. I love feminine names that have a more neutral/masculine nickname option if that’s what she later decides she likes!
I think it’d be completely fine, since her first name is technically [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and I think it would be so cool if it had a comeback! [name_u]Rory[/name_u] is also an adorable nickname for [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f]. I love this!

Yes! I saw a social media baby a few weeks (maybe months?) ago born to a family who always uses vintage names, and her name was [name_f]Dottie[/name_f]! I was so excited to see it used in a new babe! I love [name_f]Dottie[/name_f], and I love it even more as a nickname for [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] . 
I think the surname is completely fine, personally. [name_f]Dorothy[/name_f] “Dottie” Potts, for example? Sounds like a book character! I’m in love !

If she ends up going full time by [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] and youre going to be very bothered by [name_f]Dottie[/name_f] McTot or whatever her surname is then maybe avoid it but I doubt most people will think anything about it. I frequently just go by my nickname so it’s possible she might too.
