Can I name a baby Myron?

[name_f]My[/name_f] husband wants to use the name [name_m]Myron[/name_m] to honor his uncle. I am in favor of honoring said uncle but am finding myself wishing he had more names to choose from.

Much to my surprise I’m thinking of using the blindingly popular [name_u]Liam[/name_u] as a first name and [name_m]Myron[/name_m] in the middle spot. [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] thought is that a top charting first name can balance the wildly unpopular middle.

Does that logic work? Is [name_m]Myron[/name_m] too far off the charts for a baby to wear today? Should I bother considering using [name_m]Myron[/name_m] as a first name? What do you think?

I think [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] is wonderful! The balance is very nice. I don’t think [name_m]Myron[/name_m] is too off the charts, but it does feel very “old man” to me.

Also, I don’t think you need the chart-topping name to balance it out if you don’t want that. If you love [name_u]Liam[/name_u], then it’s great, but if you prefer less popular names I think they would work just fine with [name_m]Myron[/name_m] as well.

I like your logic and am fully on board with using [name_m]Myron[/name_m] as a middle. In fact, I always prefer honour names in the middle spot, so the child can have a fresh first name all to themselves.

That being said the M at the end of [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and beginning of [name_m]Myron[/name_m] do blur together a bit, so I might suggest a first name that doesn’t end in M. It’s not the end of the world though, just my own preference. Other than that, I think it’s quite nice

I agree that it works nicely in the middle spot but is a little runny with the ending of [name_u]Liam[/name_u]…

You also could use [name_m]Byron[/name_m] which feels possibly a little fresher but is still obviously connected to [name_m]Myron[/name_m]?

Liam [name_m]Myron[/name_m] would be great! I also think [name_m]Myron[/name_m] [name_u]Liam[/name_u] would work well. There are a couple of actors that immediately came to mind that would add to the namesakes for your child, but none being more important than your husband’s uncle.

Myron is a great name for an uncle, but I wouldn’t want to be named it myself. It seems fine for a middle.

Do you adore [name_u]Liam[/name_u]? If not, I wouldn’t use it to balance [name_m]Myron[/name_m]. After all, any name you love could do that. I can count on one hand the number of people who even know my middle name.

If you don’t like the run-in with [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m], you could always use [name_m]Myron[/name_m] [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and call him by his MN. [name_f]My[/name_f] granny did all but the first 5 years of her life, and most people didn’t know her FN until after she died, with the exception of family. I’m not saying hide [name_m]Myron[/name_m], but it would be an option and he could choose when he’s old enough to (like my granny did when she started school).

I love [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]! I don’t think that [name_m]Myron[/name_m] would work as a first on a modern baby, so putting it in the middle spot works great. They definitely balance each other out :))

If you like [name_m]Myron[/name_m], I think it’s totally usable as a first name! [name_m]Byron[/name_m], [name_u]Ronnie[/name_u], [name_m]Meyer[/name_m], [name_m]Monty[/name_m], [name_u]Micah[/name_u], [name_m]Myles[/name_m] could be alternative honours.

Liam [name_m]Myron[/name_m] is quite nice, but again, only if you really like [name_u]Liam[/name_u] and aren’t just using it because it’s popular and balances out an unusual name.

Thank you all for your thoughtful responses. I’m starting to see [name_m]Myron[/name_m] in the middle spot as a real possibility.

I like [name_u]Liam[/name_u] but do I love it? That’s a great question. I’m not sure yet.

I recently learned that the name [name_m]Myron[/name_m] goes back several generations in the family. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband has a brother named [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m], there’s Uncle [name_m]Myron[/name_m] [name_m]Arnold[/name_m], great grandfather [name_m]Myron[/name_m] [name_u]Emery[/name_u], and great great grandfather [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]. Learning that there was a [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] encourages me to use [name_u]Liam[/name_u].

Before we started talking about [name_m]Myron[/name_m] we liked the names [name_m]Clay[/name_m] and [name_u]Emmett[/name_u]. [name_m]Clay[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]. Again, I’m just not sure.

What would you pair with [name_m]Myron[/name_m]?

Ooh [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] is really nice!

I think that’s a winning combo- then your son would have a name all to himself. And it still ties into [name_u]Emery[/name_u]

Emmett>[name_m]Clay[/name_m]>[name_u]Liam[/name_u] for me

I think [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] works well! [name_m]Myron[/name_m] doesn’t sound terribly outlandish, so it doesn’t need a super popular first imo but it still works

I love the name [name_m]Myron[/name_m] and definitely think it could be an option for a first. I agree with tfzolghadr that [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] runs together, with the m and another m immediately. Personally, I’m tired of the uber popular [name_u]Liam[/name_u] (I have three nephews with that name and have had at least 20 different students with the same name).

I do really like [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] and [name_m]Clay[/name_m]. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] is okay but both with two syllables and emphasizing the first isn’t ideal for me, but [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] is super handsome. I don’t usually go for two middles, but in this case, they work together very well and there aren’t too many syllables. [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] is awesome! I also think [name_m]Myron[/name_m] [name_u]Thaddeus[/name_u] is way cool, and [name_m]Myron[/name_m] [name_m]Clay[/name_m] like that would be great too. Here’s some other options for [name_m]Myron[/name_m] in the middle:

Everett [name_m]Myron[/name_m] (different consonant sounds but close to [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] = win)
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_u]Timothy[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Gregory[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Darius[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Elio[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] (I’m really liking a three syllable first with [name_m]Myron[/name_m])
[name_m]Clarence[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] (could have [name_m]Clay[/name_m] as a nickname)
[name_m]Barclay[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] (same as above)
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Abel[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellington[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Cedric[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Kent[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Forrester[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Kendrick[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Lorenzo[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Matteo[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] (cool alliteration)
[name_m]Maximus[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]/Maxfield [name_m]Myron[/name_m]
[name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] [name_m]Myron[/name_m]

If my choices were [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_m]Clay[/name_m], and [name_u]Liam[/name_u], [name_u]Emmett[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] would take it for sure! I like your logic of using [name_m]Myron[/name_m] in the middle and a name you like better as a first name. I agree that [name_u]Liam[/name_u] has been suuuuper popular in the last 20 or so years, plus the M sounds in [name_u]Liam[/name_u] [name_m]Myron[/name_m] run together (which isn’t the worst thing in the world if you love [name_u]Liam[/name_u] but is a point against it overall). I personally don’t love [name_m]Clay[/name_m] but for no good reason; objectively it’s fine, it just doesn’t call to me.

Some others you might or might not like:
