Not planning or anything just curious.
That would be a brave choice, but I don’t see why not. I mean when words like [name_u]Dream[/name_u], [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] and [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] can be names than why not [name_f]Spirit[/name_f].
And I actually think this would be a really sweet name, but maybe better as a middle name.
It’s a nice choice in theory and I think it could make a nice middle name. It does give me a little pause because while spirit as a concept is universal (like when referring to a personality), spirit as a noun (like spirits of the dead) can be extremely important to certain cultures. I don’t think it would be cultural appropriation but it’s enough that I wouldn’t use it personally even though I like the sound and I like it in theory.
I think it can be. [name_f]Aura[/name_f], [name_u]Dream[/name_u] and [name_f]Reverie[/name_f] are words that have been used as names before (and are present on Nameberry) that have a similar meaning and style to [name_f]Spirit[/name_f]. I have to say though there is a children’s animated film about a horse called [name_f]Spirit[/name_f] and associated merchandise that come immediately to my mind.
It feels a bit descriptive to me
I think so, but I grew up running on a cross-country team with sisters named Sp!rit, L!berty, and Freed0m so it doesn’t seem strange to me (and this would have been before the movie about the horse came out).
It would be very brave for a first name, but I think it would make a very interesting middle name.
If [name_u]Royal[/name_u] is a name I don’t see [name_f]Spirit[/name_f] as being any more out there really.
I actually like [name_f]Spirit[/name_f] a lot. I’d love to meet someone with that name.
I’m a little torn. While [name_f]Spirit[/name_f] can be used to denote someone bright and vivacious “a spirited individual” it also can mean a specter or apparition.
I wouldn’t use it myself but I also wouldn’t call it unusable.
