Can this ever work?

Can [name]Colt[/name] ever work with the LN [name]Kane[/name]? DH is madly in love with the idea of [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Colt[/name] [name]Kane[/name] or [name]Colt[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Kane[/name]. I am fine with [name]Colt[/name], I actually quite like it but I am not a fan of [name]Colton[/name]. No offense to anyone with the name or have children with the name but all the Coltons I have ever known were bratty and ill-mannered. [name]Colt[/name] seems different to me though. I love the idea of twins [name]Bristol[/name] & [name]Colt[/name] or [name]Delaney[/name] & [name]Colt[/name] if we have B/G twins  Can [name]Colt[/name] [name]Kane[/name] ever work?

Roman[/name]]If you really want it too, I’m sure it can. It might just need some getting used too…although, my first thought after reading it was ‘[name]Clark[/name] [name]Kent[/name]’, but I’m sure [name]Clark[/name] [name]Kent[/name] didn’t sound right at first, but after people got used to it, it sounds fine.
You could always name him [name]Samuel[/name], but he could go by [name]Colt[/name].
I adore [name]Bristol[/name] & [name]Colt[/name] and [name]Delaney[/name] & [name]Colt[/name]!

It probably doesn’t matter but [name]Bristol[/name] is a brand of paint in Australia.

Unfortunately, if you say [name]Colt[/name] [name]Kane[/name] out loud quickly, it sounds a bit like cocaine. It seems that this could easily be mis-heard, say over the phone and such, which could be very embarrassing. Something to consider.

I personally think [name]Colt[/name] [name]Kane[/name] sounds rather abrupt, kinda hard to say, and a little too similar to “cocaine” for my taste ([name]Cole[/name] [name]Kane[/name] would be worse in that respect, though). I think [name]Colt[/name] works fine as a middle name after [name]Samuel[/name] (not many people will probably recognize it, but [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Colt[/name] invented the rifle). Maybe [name]Colter[/name], [name]Coltrane[/name], or the spelling [name]Coleton[/name] instead of [name]Colton[/name] would help? Or even something like [name]Colin[/name] or [name]Colston[/name]? But you’ll call him [name]Colt[/name] most of the time, and then my worries still stand…

I do think [name]Bristol[/name] [name]Kane[/name] is pretty-sounding, though the name [name]Bristol[/name] puts me in mind of “bristles,” the not-so-pretty city on the border of VA and TN, and [name]Sarah[/name] [name]Palin[/name]'s daughter (not my fave personage). However, I think it sounds lovely with [name]Paisley[/name] and [name]Cheyenne[/name]. I think [name]Delaney[/name] [name]Kane[/name] is nice, but a little rhymey.

[name]Colt[/name] has a rough-and-tumble, American, masculine sound. What about…
[name]Lincoln[/name] ([name]Linc[/name], [name]Cole[/name] or even [name]Colt[/name]?)
[name]Callum[/name] ([name]Cal[/name], [name]Cam[/name])
[name]Brody[/name] - too close to [name]Bradley[/name]?
[name]Weston[/name] ([name]West[/name])
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Bowen[/name] ([name]Bo[/name], [name]Bowie[/name]) - I remember you were considering [name]Boone[/name]
[name]Bryant[/name]
[name]Carson[/name] ([name]Carson[/name] [name]Kane[/name] has a similar ring)
[name]Ryder[/name] or [name]Ryland[/name]
[name]Bridger[/name]
[name]Channing[/name] or [name]Chandler[/name]
[name]Thatcher[/name]
[name]Walker[/name]
[name]Warren[/name]
[name]Porter[/name]
[name]Winslow[/name] ([name]Win[/name])
[name]Pierce[/name]
[name]Wade[/name]
[name]Henry[/name] ([name]Hal[/name])
[name]Monroe[/name]

[name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Bristol[/name] are both modern, feminine-but-not-girly names. What about…
[name]Dulcie[/name] - like [name]Delaney[/name]?
[name]Fifer[/name] or [name]Piper[/name]
[name]Harper[/name]
[name]Larkin[/name] ([name]Lark[/name])
[name]Mara[/name]
[name]Tiernan[/name]
[name]Sadie[/name]
[name]Finley[/name] ([name]Finn[/name])
[name]Fallon[/name]
[name]Rory[/name]
[name]Greer[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Emerson[/name] or [name]Emery[/name]
[name]Kendall[/name] or [name]Kennedy[/name]
[name]Skyler[/name]

[name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Bristol[/name] have already been decided upon! So we thank you for the suggestions but they are decided because WE love them! We are not picking names in hopes that everyone we meet will love them. So we don’t need or want any suggestions that go against the girl’s names we have chosen (most of your suggestions appear to be very masculine and do NOT go at all with [name]Paisley[/name] or [name]Cheyenne[/name], which to us are beautiful and feminine names as are [name]Delaney[/name] and [name]Bristol[/name]) that is why this thread is on an BOY’S NAME forum!

DH wants [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Colt[/name] or [name]Colt[/name] [name]Samuel[/name] in honor of [name]Samuel[/name] [name]Colt[/name], YES we know he invented the rifle! If the name flowed better I would have no problems with it whatsoever. I am looking for opinions on whether or not the flow works or if it is all in my head. DH would not be happy with something similar (though I don’t think your suggestions are anywhere near similar) he wants [name]Samuel[/name] with [name]Colt[/name] or bust! If the name does not work we have other options we are considering. For this particular thread I am only interested whether or not [name]Colt[/name] could ever work with the LN [name]Kane[/name]!

I am sorry if I am being a bit harsh but it seems as if you are trying to tell us that our names are not what you like so they are not good enough to use! These are OUR children not yours! We came here to Nameberry to look for opinions and we have gotten several wonderful opinions that have helped us pick these names. [name]Do[/name] you think if we thought [name]Bristol[/name] sounded like bristles we would have picked it? Or if we thought [name]Delaney[/name] was too rhymey with [name]Kane[/name] we have selected it either? We successfully named 4 children without any help so I think we know what we are doing!
