I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and I’m getting a little bored with my names and looking for some new ones.
What do you think of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]?
Here’s the bigger concern… Could [name_f]Effie[/name_f] work as a nickname for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]? I know it doesn’t “need” a nickname but I would still like to have one and I certainly don’t like Daph or Daphy…
I’ve been thinking a lot about [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], too. I really like it, but growing up watching the vapid [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] from Scooby-Doo has made me a little hesitant (since it’s my only association).
I don’t love [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], though I do like both names on their own. I feel like the ending “e” sound in [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] makes [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] difficult to say, and the sounds sort of blur together. They’re not too bad, but I think you could do better.
[name_f]Effie[/name_f] is a cute nickname for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. I hadn’t considered it, but it works.
My daughter’s middle name is a variant of my mother’s name so if we have another daughter, I want to have it be a variant of my [name_f]MIL[/name_f]'s name. [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are variants. I am also considering [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] because her middle name is [name_u]Jo[/name_u] and my grandmother’s name is [name_f]Anna[/name_f].
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]?
But again, my biggest concern is if using [name_f]Effie[/name_f] as a nickname is too much of a stretch. The middle name is an after thought if [name_f]Effie[/name_f] wouldn’t work.
Meaning trumps “flow” every time, for me. If [name_f]Elise[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] are significant to you and your family, then either of those would work. I like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] the best of the two.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] is really nice. I like it a lot.
I still think [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is really cute for [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s a stretch. I’m sure you’ll have others come weigh in soon, but that’s my opinion
I like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]. I consider it quite old-fashioned, but still spunky enough to be used now and not sound dated. I also connect it to Scooby Doo. I like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f], and do see [name_f]Effie[/name_f] working as a potential nickname - it’s a bit of a stretch, but not entirely unconnected.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is beautiful! I have a lovely friend named [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and her name is never shortened. [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is just as long as [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and ends in ee sound.
I like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. What about [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]? I don’t think [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is a stretch at all but I think [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is short enough for her to just go by her full name.
[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] nn [name_f]Effie[/name_f] works, and [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is very cute.
Of your combos, I like [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] best. I think [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] has just the right amount of gravity to cancel out [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]'s flighty buoyancy.
I feel like the nickname [name_f]Effie[/name_f] is a stretch, but you could probably make it work.
I’ve just never been attracted to the sound of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], but that’s just my personal preference. I don’t see any flaw in the name, just simply that the sound of it isn’t pleasing to me. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] works great together though.
I love the name [name_f]Daphne[/name_f]! I think you can use [name_f]Effie[/name_f] as a nn, makes sense to me. I think [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is really pretty!
I’ve also always loved [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and have racked my brain trying to find an appropriate nn. [name_f]Effie[/name_f] was also the closest that Iv’e come to a “real” nn, but I’m not sure others would see it. Other’s I’ve also debated were [name_f]Fifi[/name_f] and [name_f]Nia[/name_f]. If I ever decide to actually use [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] someday I believe that I’ll avoid a nn.
My favorite of your nn’s is [name_f]Elise[/name_f] with [name_f]Daphne[/name_f].
