I welcome thoughts & opinions on these names. They are some interesting ones I’ve been playing around with lately. Which one do you think is the most usable or is your favorite?
[name]Love[/name] [name]Brodny[/name]! (: I also like [name]Graydon[/name] - my hubs just nixed that from our list because in elementary school it will sound so similar to “gradin’” as in a teacher “grading papers”. … My hubs thought of that nix. BUT, I still love it!!!
[name]Halloran[/name] – this is interesting but NMS
[name]Truman[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this! I love the nn [name]True[/name]
[name]Bowen[/name] – [name]Love[/name] this too! It’s very cool and reminds me of Dragon Heart
[name]Lincoln[/name] – I’ve never understood the appeal of this but I like the nn [name]Link[/name]
[name]Tate[/name] – I know a [name]Tate[/name]. Very cool and strong name
[name]Clifton[/name] – way to surnamey for me.
[name]Bradford[/name] – same as [name]Clifton[/name]
[name]Lowell[/name] – I like the sound
[name]Raeburn[/name] – same as [name]Clifton[/name]
[name]Talcott[/name] – Same as [name]Clifton[/name]
[name]Graydon[/name] – I like it, but I like [name]Greyson[/name] better
[name]Brodny[/name] – Same as [name]Clifton[/name]
[name]Winston[/name] – I love [name]Win[/name] but not [name]Winston[/name]
[name]Havelock[/name] – Same as [name]Clifton[/name]
[name]Morrisey[/name] – Same as [name]Clifton[/name]
As you can see, most of these are too surnamey for me.
My favorites are [name]Tate[/name] and [name]Bowen[/name].
[name]Halloran[/name]- I could see using it if it were a family name or if you love the nickname [name]Hal[/name].
[name]Truman[/name]- I like it
[name]Bowen[/name]- I prefer [name]Bowie[/name] or [name]Beau[/name]
[name]Lincoln[/name]- I really like this name.
[name]Tate[/name]- I like this
[name]Clifton[/name]- I think the nickname [name]Cliff[/name] is cool.
[name]Bradford[/name]- sounds distinguished
[name]Lowell[/name]- okay
[name]Raeburn[/name] - don’t care for it
[name]Talcott[/name]- I don’t like it for a first name
[name]Graydon[/name]- I don’t like it
[name]Brodny[/name]- I’ve never heard this before,I think it’s kind of cool.
[name]Winston[/name]- Hard for me to see this on a real person( aside from [name]Churchill[/name], of course). [name]Win[/name] is a good nickname.
[name]Havelock[/name]-I don’t like it for a first name. [name]Lock[/name] is kind of a cool nickname.
[name]Morrisey[/name]- All I can think of is the singer.
My absolute favorite on the list is [name]Truman[/name]. I love the sound, love the feel, love the meaning. [name]Bradford[/name] gets second place, followed by [name]Winston[/name] at third. [name]Clifton[/name] might be higher if there weren’t such a proliferation of -ton names right now.
I [name]DO[/name] like the nn [name]Hal[/name]. I think it’s adorable. With so many -ton names out there right now I like [name]Clifton[/name] the best. I would use it for the nn [name]Cliff[/name]. I also like [name]Clive[/name]. I like a lot of the names on the list for their water-related meanings. Thanks for the feedback I welcome more.
I think a lot of them sound like they would be hard to fit with either a mn or a ln, for some reason. Have you played around with any mn’s for any of them yet?
Last name sounds like Garris. If we do family names these would be middle name contenders for something like [name]Bruno[/name] [name]Halloran[/name], [name]Bruno[/name] [name]Lincoln[/name], [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Lowell[/name], [name]Griffin[/name] [name]Bradford[/name], [name]Patrick[/name] [name]Clifton[/name], or [name]Daniel[/name] [name]Havelock[/name]. Otherwise I have thought about pairing them together in different ways. I think [name]Bowen[/name] [name]Havelock[/name] or [name]Morrisey[/name] [name]Raeburn[/name] sound cool. I also like [name]Bradford[/name] [name]Tate[/name] or [name]Bradford[/name] [name]Tace[/name]. [name]Brodny[/name] [name]Winston[/name], [name]Lowell[/name] [name]Brodny[/name], [name]Bowen[/name] [name]Raeburn[/name]. I’m still tossing the names around right now. I’m open to suggestion; feel free to suggest name combos too. I want to use a name nobody else I know has used but isn’t crazy.
And without the rest of the names you like, I can’t do much, but aside from [name]Tate[/name] and [name]Bowen[/name], I mostly think these sound cool in the middle.
I’m torn. I’m pretty sure my SO wants to use family names but I find our (meaningful and wonderful) family name list a little bland:
[name]Stephen[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name]
[name]Michael[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name]
[name]Bruno[/name]
[name]Daniel[/name]
[name]Nicholas[/name]
[name]Thomas[/name]
Those are the family names we both agree on.
My favorite is [name]Bruno[/name] but if we use one do we have to use two? [name]Do[/name] we have to use them for all the children we have? My sister gave her son a name not really heard of before but used a family name in the middle. She purposefully wanted him to have a name that was his own. I have a lot of water related names on my long list ([name]Havelock[/name], [name]Halloran[/name], [name]Lincoln[/name], [name]Morrisey[/name], [name]Brodny[/name], [name]Raeburn[/name], [name]Bradford[/name]) because my fiance proposed while we were standing in a river. We are into nature and nature names. I want something that is going to be unique but still meaningful. Please feel free to make name combos.
You could use a more interesting related name if you find the original bland. [name]Stephen[/name] to [name]Stefan[/name], [name]Thomas[/name] to [name]Thom/nameson, [name]Nicholas[/name] to [name]Nicolai[/name] or [name]Claus[/name]. That said, I do like [name]Patrick[/name], [name]Bruno[/name], [name]Griffin[/name] and [name]Nicholas[/name]. You have a lot of surnames on your list so maybe a family surname could be used to honour someone?
I don’t think your combos are weird, it all comes down to personal taste. I like:
[name]Bruno[/name] [name]Halloran[/name]
[name]Griffin[/name] [name]Lowell[/name]
[name]Patrick[/name] [name]Clifton[/name]
However, my favourite of the names you had listed is [name]Lincoln[/name].
I simply adore [name]Winston[/name]. It’s a name you really can’t go wrong with. [name]Win[/name] and [name]Winnie[/name] are great nicknames, and [name]Winston[/name] is great on its own.
Runners up would be [name]Lincoln[/name] and [name]Lowell[/name]. But [name]Winston[/name] is the overwhelming winner to me.
