Can you use a friends dogs name on your child?

So I love [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] for our second born, and he would undoubtedly be called [name_u]Toby[/name_u] most of the time. My problem is our good friends, who we spend a lot of time with, have a dog called [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. Can we use [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] without it being too weird?

Yes you can use it. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because the dog came first doesn’t make [name_u]Toby[/name_u] a “dog name”.

Yes, as long as the dog doesn’t pass away just before the birth, that should be fine. Calling him [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] when with that family would be a measure I would take.

I dont think it will be an issue!
Plus, if they are a good friend of yours, then they will understand and might even find it funny
[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is a lovely name!

I think so too thanks! [name_m]Just[/name_m] off putting when you suddenly realise it’s a popular dog name! But I like the formal [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] most of all so hopefully it’s not as obvious a connection

[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is a really handsome name and [name_u]Toby[/name_u] is adorable. A wonderful choice. I don’t think it matters that your friends dog is called [name_u]Toby[/name_u]!
