I have a 4 year old daughter named [name_f]Layla[/name_f] and I am expecting again in [name_u]July[/name_u]. Naming her was so easy but my husband and I can’t agree on a girls name this time around. We have our boys name.
Right now the front runners are:
[name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] [name_f]Paige[/name_f] and [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Lynne[/name_f]
He likes Adilyn and I like [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u].
We want girly, not unisex and definitely not in the top 30 names if possible.
Hello! This is difficult because to me your names, apart from [name_f]Tessa[/name_f], are really unisex and not especially feminine unisex names.
Some suggestions:
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] means night, so you could go with another night name like [name_f]Amaya[/name_f], which means ‘night rain’
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] is also Persian - there are some gorgeous Persian names that are very feminine and would match [name_f]Layla[/name_f] well. These include [name_f]Soraya[/name_f] (‘jewel’), [name_f]Esme[/name_f] (‘beloved’), [name_f]Daria[/name_f], [name_f]Gelsey[/name_f] (‘flower’), [name_f]Yasmeen[/name_f] (‘[name_f]Jasmine[/name_f]’), [name_f]Parisa[/name_f] (‘fairy’) or [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f] (means ‘dawn’).
I agree 100% with @kristin of kerrytown’s point of view on Adilyn and [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]. I also prefer [name_f]Tessa[/name_f] out of your two choices. Other’s to consider:
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_f]Camille[/name_f]
[name_f]Cassia[/name_f] or [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] or [name_f]Cassia[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucia[/name_f] or [name_f]Luciana[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Susie[/name_f] or [name_f]Zuzu[/name_f]
[name_f]Talia[/name_f]
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] or [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] nickname [name_f]Thea[/name_f]
[name_f]Zoey[/name_f]
It can be tough when you love your first child’s name so much that you are afraid of giving your next child a name that isn’t as great. But you will find something you love just as much as [name_f]Layla[/name_f] soon!
Thank you for replying
My husband does like Jocelyn. I think my only issue is his name starts with J and I want different initials for everyone so a pattern doesn’t start. Probably sounds silly.
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] is my top pick out of the ones you listed. It’s such a pretty name!! Not a fan of the Adilyn spelling and I din’t mind [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], but it sounds more masculine to me and will sound dated in a few years.
Other names that go with [name_f]Layla[/name_f] are:
[name_f]Carolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Birdie[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Anya[/name_f] (possibly a bit too similar to [name_f]Layla[/name_f])
[name_f]Mia[/name_f]
[name_f]Vanessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Sabrina[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Alyssa[/name_f]
[name_f]Celestia[/name_f]
