Carmine?

I’ve always really loved this name for a boy. I think it works well on a child as well as on an adult. What do you guys think?

Ok, I may be showing my age here but when I saw [name]Carmine[/name] my thoughts instantly turned to the TV show “[name]Laverne[/name] and [name]Shirley[/name]”. [name]Carmine[/name] was [name]Shirley[/name]'s Italian boyfriend. [name]Carmine[/name] is also the name of a famous restaurant in NYC. I always thought it would be better suited for a girl - there’s something about it that looks feminine to me.

I will be honest- when I saw that thread title I double checked if I was in the Girls Name forum.
Having never come across it before (Name squib moment) I would automatically place it as a girls’ name.
It really might be my ignorance, but there we have it.

I do like the sound of it, and if it were well known enough as a boys’ name, I wouldn’t hesitate to consider it- after all, [name]Gabriel[/name], [name]Adrian[/name] etc etc. all sound fairly girl nameish- but as it is I would worry that he would get accidentally marked on the girls’ list for gym or something.

It sounds luscious, Italian and exotic though. So all good there!

I like it, but there are a lot of Italians were I live. It’s out for us because my husband had a friend [name]Carmine[/name] who stole his girlfriend.

I love it!!! I am considering adding it to my list as well. I do think of [name]Laverne[/name] and [name]Shirley[/name] because I could watch those reruns all day long, but he was such a sweet guy  I love the meaning as well. So it is a big thumbs up from me

Hmmm, I’ve never heard of a girl named [name]Carmine[/name]. Sounds totally masculine to me!

I really like it! Maybe it’s because i’ve always loved [name]Carmina[/name] (like [name]Carmina[/name] Burana; not [name]Carmen[/name], ick). [name]Carmine[/name] sounds masculine and sophisticated.

[name]Carmine[/name], to me, is crushed beetle. See: Carmine - Wikipedia, which puts me off!

But didn’t do Carmine Giovinazzo - Wikipedia any harm.

I love it!!! I wouldn’t ever use it, but I find it quite sophisticated and handsome.
