Impressions of the name [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] (pronounced [name_u]Caro[/name_u]-leen-a) vs. the name [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]? They’re obviously very different. Which name do you prefer and why? Thank you for your help!

Both names are certainly lovely!
But I prefer [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], for several reasons. It feels more lively and fun than [name_u]Ruby[/name_u], while being just as spunky. It has a lot of cute nicknames, a light but cheerful sound and it’s more unique.
Oh, tough choice.
I slightly prefer [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] because it’s so nice and sleek with that “lean” pronunciation! I like that it’s a slight twist that takes the classic [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] into more interesting territory.
I know a really nice Swedish-American [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], and she’s so sweet, outspoken, and funny that that’s what I associate with the name.
I prefer [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] is very popular where I live. [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] has a lovely sound, and seems a bit more interesting and different to me.

I prefer [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], but depending on where you live, you may get unintended KA-ruh-[name_m]LY[/name_m]-nuh pronunciations.
I prefer [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. It’s short and sweet and you won’t have the pronunciation issues you might have with [name_f]Carolina[/name_f].
Another vote for [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]! It is spunky and classic but still versatile enough for many different personalities. I know I would have a hard time pulling off [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] myself, so I would hesitate to use it for a child, but it might work well for your family.
I think it depends what kind of kid you think you’ll have, in terms of personality and comparing it to your family (if that makes sense).
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] makes me think of an artsy, loud, excited girl. Whereas, [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] makes me think of a quiet girl, book smart and always carrying a smile. For some reason [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] sounds more modern to me, although I know it’s not.
My vote is [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. But both are lovely.
I prefer [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]. I’ve never met a [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] - it’s beautiful, rare (where I am from, anyways), and very sweet.
