Caroline--classic or boring?

I adore [name]Caroline[/name]! It’s definitely a classic name, and not at all boring. Plus, all the nicknames are adorable - [name]Cara[/name], [name]Carrie[/name], [name]Carlie[/name], [name]Callie[/name]. I also love that it’s a slight twist on a family name (my aunt is [name]Carolyn[/name]).
I only have two minor issues with it: 1) I can’t find a MN with it that I just [name]LOVE[/name], and 2) I already have [name]Charlotte[/name] in my top ten, and [name]Charlotte[/name] and [name]Caroline[/name] as sisters isn’t going to work.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]! I think it’s classic and sweet. That’s the name I want for my future daughter and I also want to use [name]Callie[/name] as a nickname. I think it’s perfect!

My younger sister’s name is [name]Caroline[/name], and she loves it. She goes by her full name, and the only thing that bothers her is that sometimes people call her “[name]Carolyn[/name]” instead of “[name]Caroline[/name]”. [name]Callie[/name] doesn’t sound like it belongs in a certain era to me, but I’ve never met anyone named [name]Callie[/name], so I don’t associate it with anything.

I love [name]Caroline[/name] and it’ll always be a classic imo. I also love [name]Carolyn[/name] and [name]Coraline[/name].

I like [name]Callie[/name] but think [name]Caroline[/name] is EXTREMELY dated. Sorry, don’t like it at all.

I’ll give my two cents, as a [name]Caroline[/name]

My full name is [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Eliese[/name] (hence the username). My mom was born and bred in South [name]Carolina[/name], so that had something to do with it. I also later learned that there was a long time Bold and the Beautiful character named [name]Caroline[/name]–aristocratic, rich, classy–who may have influenced her decision making. And then there was [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Kennedy[/name] and [name]Princess[/name] [name]Caroline[/name]. Essentially, my parents wanted me to sound like an upper-class Southern girl–they thought the name would give me a leg up on life, which is why the middle name is similarly French-influenced and all that. ([name]Just[/name] with a more unique spelling.)

I love my name! I try to dress and style my hair to go with it–it’s always felt very feminine and classy, and I do think that I get automatic points from all of the Southerners I encounter. As a nickname you could consider “[name]Caro[/name]”–I didn’t have a nickname for the longest time, because I was afraid that people might call me [name]Carrie[/name] or [name]Carol[/name]. (But that was my own fear, apparently, because I’ve asked and everyone’s said that they would never consider [name]Carol[/name] a nickname for [name]Caroline[/name]. That said, I’ve recently garnered the nn [name]Caro[/name] thanks to a series of events and my aunt almost singularly calls me that these days. I love that too. I’m a big fan of [name]Lord[/name] [name]Byron[/name], and “[name]Caro[/name]” was a nickname he popularized when he gave it to Lady [name]Caroline[/name] Lamb, one of his lovers and a poet in her own right. (Admittedly she was also crazy, but I’ve always thought it funny.) It also has that same French flair as [name]Caroline[/name].

So, long story short, I prefer it to [name]Callie[/name], and I think I’ve benefited from it!

I love [name]Caroline[/name] (much more than [name]Carolina[/name]) and the nn [name]Callie[/name] (however you choose to spell it)! I don’t find it that common in the Carolinas (where I was born and live), but not that uncommon either! a very pretty classic with an adorable nn, imo!
