So I’m due in less than two months with a girl and names have been a challenge. Our top ones at the moment are [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Meg[/name_f]. Middle name ideas for each are:
I like the simplicity of [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Meg[/name_f], but worry they aren’t “enough”, or unique enough. But sometimes [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] feels like too much and I really don’t like [name_f]Carolynn[/name_f] or [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. I like somewhat of a mix of traditional and unique. I also like names that have a little strength to them and are not all cutesy. Any thoughts on the ones above or new ideas welcome!
[name_f]Meg[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is definitely my favourite! I personally don’t think of any of these names as very unique, but I would actually say [name_f]Meg[/name_f] leans the most that way out of the 3 in my mind.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & [name_f]Jane[/name_f]. Both are very classic, timeless, elegant choices that feel very effortless. [name_f]Meg[/name_f] is fun maybe leans more ‘unique’ as normally you’d find [name_f]Meg[/name_f] as a nickname for [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] or [name_f]Megan[/name_f] and I also find [name_f]Meg[/name_f] from fashionable as vintage nicknames are very popular. Either way all three are lovely!

This would be my personal shortlist to bring to the delivery room and figure out what name suits her best.
However if you want to choose the one name now I would say my favourite from the three finalist is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. Honestly [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is beautiful she’s elegant, timeless, understated, has this southern [name_f]Belle[/name_f] feel and I love the nickname [name_f]Carrie[/name_f]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] is beautiful I absolutely love [name_f]Hope[/name_f]!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f] struck out at me! I would say you can’t go wrong with either.
I understand the appeal of [name_f]Meg[/name_f] but it does feel incomplete. Additionally, the combo [name_f]Meg[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] does audibly come off as a fancy way of saying [name_f]Megan[/name_f]. [name_f]Megan[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would be a nice option.
I love [name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Meg[/name_f]!

If you feel like [name_f]Meg[/name_f] is more of a nickname, [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] or [name_f]May[/name_f] might work as an alternative.
I see all three names as traditional and strong and only unique in that they’re not in the top 10 names.
I really love the imagery of Jane Marlow. I quite like Caroline but don’t like the nicknames for it. Meg is sweet but I am not sure I could commit to it. I think this is because I know a serious and stern Meg but it’s actually a gorgeous name.
If not Jane (mn Marlow), which is my fave, how about: Nell, Grace, Anna, Charlotte, Eloise, Audrey, Anne, Josephine, Diana or Vera?
I like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] the best. It’s the #1 on my list too. [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] or [name_f]Cara[/name_f] could also stand alone if it feels like too much. A new suggestion that seems to fit your vibe is [name_f]Mara[/name_f]. [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] and [name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] sound nice to me.
Off your list, I really like [name_f]Meg[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f]. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] also sounds really nice to me, and it could give way to the nickname CJ if you like that.
I feel like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] strikes the perfect balance in what you’re looking for: It’s as traditional as [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and familiar-but-not-common, like [name_f]Meg[/name_f].
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] is certainly ‘enough’, in my opinion. It may be short, but it has plenty of strength.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] is a perfect combo! It feels smart and nicely unexpected.
Oh wow, I really love [name_f]Meg[/name_f]! I think that’s absolutely enough name. Short, sweet, and totally sturdy. So literary and refined, but her brevity makes her playful, too. I think that’s a gorgeous full name. I love [name_f]Meg[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] !! [name_f]Meg[/name_f] [name_u]Eden[/name_u] is also stunning !!
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] is my favourite. If anything, I’d be worried about [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] not being unique enough - it’s far more common than [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is in the US.
[name_f]Jane[/name_f] and [name_f]Meg[/name_f] are enough! I was worried about this too when I named my daughter [name_f]Mae[/name_f], but I loved the name and it suits her so well. All are lovely choices, but I like [name_f]Jane[/name_f] the best. 🩷
