Caroline - nicknames and variations?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there,

I love the name [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. But I wouldn’t want to call her “[name_f]Carol[/name_f]” because that’s my mother-in-law’s name. In your experience, do you think people would automatically call a [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] “[name_f]Carol[/name_f]”?

What other nicknames can you think of?

I’d also love some ideas for variations on the name. For instance I also like [name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], etc. What other creative variations am I not thinking of?

Thanks!

Nicknames: [name_u]Caro[/name_u], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], [name_f]Carrie[/name_f], [name_f]Carly[/name_f], [name_f]Callie[/name_f], etc., etc.
I love [name_f]Cora[/name_f] and all of its variations, but those are more variations of [name_f]Cora[/name_f] than of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] ([name_f]Coraline[/name_f], [name_f]Coral[/name_f], and [name_f]Coralie[/name_f]). I know one girl called Carolan (prn. CARE-oh-lan) which is interesting.

I love [name_f]Cora[/name_f] too! I would be interested in hearing more variations if you know of more

We have a sweet neighbor girl named [name_f]Caraline[/name_f] (pr. like [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]). Her parents call her by her full name, but considered calling her “[name_f]Cara[/name_f]” as a nickname.

I love [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]! It’s probably the only variant I like.

I love this name! [name_f]My[/name_f] sister is [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and she used to go by [name_f]Callie[/name_f]. These days she often goes by her full name. We also have a great-grandmother who was [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and she went by [name_f]Carrie[/name_f].

I’ve met Carolines who go by [name_f]Carly[/name_f] and [name_f]Carrie[/name_f]. Carolinas who go by [name_f]Lina[/name_f]. [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] is lovely as is, too!

[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] = [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] /[name_f]Callie[/name_f] / [name_u]Kay[/name_u] / [name_f]Carlie[/name_f]

[name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] = [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] / [name_f]Cally[/name_f] / [name_f]Carly[/name_f] / [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]

[name_u]Carlin[/name_u] - [name_f]Carly[/name_f] - [name_f]Cara[/name_f] - [name_f]Caia[/name_f] - [name_u]Kai[/name_u] - [name_f]Coralyn[/name_f] - [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] - [name_f]Coral[/name_f] - [name_u]Corey[/name_u]

You may also like [name_f]Cadence[/name_f], [name_f]Candace[/name_f], [name_f]Callista[/name_f], [name_f]Camille[/name_f], [name_f]Cassandra[/name_f], and [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u]

I love [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], and also [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] and [name_f]Coraline[/name_f]. For nicknames I’m a fan of [name_f]Callie[/name_f], [name_f]Carli[/name_f], and if you want something unusual [name_m]Arrow[/name_m]. I also have [name_f]Cricket[/name_f] as a pet name for my current [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] combo ([name_f]Caroline[/name_f] [name_f]Electra[/name_f]) , though I’m sure it’s not most people’s style.

I’ve never heard anyone call a [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] “[name_f]Carol[/name_f]”. (Although I have called one of my former coworkers, [name_f]Carol[/name_f], “[name_f]Carolina[/name_f]”!) [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Carolina[/name_f] are my two other favorite forms of [name_m]Charles[/name_m] in the feminine ([name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] being my favorite, then [name_f]Carolina[/name_f], and then [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], I think.) [name_f]Coralie[/name_f] is really cute, too.

Most Carolines I know are either [name_m]JUST[/name_m] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f], or either [name_f]Cara[/name_f], [name_f]Callie[/name_f], or [name_u]Caro[/name_u] (said like the American syrup brand. KARE-oh.). I suppose [name_f]Lina[/name_f] or [name_f]Lola[/name_f] could be other options, but they’re more of a stretch.

Good luck!

I know 2 people called [name_f]Caroline[/name_f]. One is always called [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] and the other goes by [name_u]Caro[/name_u]. I’ve never heard of [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] being shortened to [name_f]Carol[/name_f]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite nns for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (which is a lovely name btw) are [name_u]Caro[/name_u], [name_f]Carrie[/name_f], [name_f]Callie[/name_f] and [name_f]Lina[/name_f]. I can’t think of any other variations.
