[name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] sound? I am worried that [name_u]Carter[/name_u] won’t fit a girl. What sort of nicknames could be used with this name?
Though all the Carters I’ve ever met (okay, that’s only like two) have been boys, I think the name could still fit a girl just fine. In fact, the first thing I think of is the character named [name_u]Carter[/name_u] from the Disney movie The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] Protection Program–in which [name_u]Carter[/name_u] is a girl.
I don’t like it on a girl
I like it on a girl. Possible nicknames are…
[name_f]Callie[/name_f]
[name_f]Catie[/name_f]
[name_f]Carrie[/name_f]
I’m not a fan of it on a girl, but it can still work. Especially with a feminine middle like in your combo. You could also make it a double barreled name, [name_u]Carter[/name_u]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f], so she won’t get mistaken for a boy very often. As far as nicknames go, these may be a bit of a stretch, but I think [name_u]Terry[/name_u] or [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] could work. Or even [name_f]Cara[/name_f] (CAR-uh)
You could certainly use it for a girl, but it iis very masculine and seeing her name on paper, it will be assumed that she is a boy. I like @erin91’s suggestion of [name_f]Cara[/name_f] (Car-uh)
I would hate hate hate to be named [name_u]Carter[/name_u] myself, but who knows how your daughter to be will feel.
I prefer [name_u]Carter[/name_u] on a boy. [name_u]Carter[/name_u] reminds me of [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_m]Kane[/name_m] from the [name_m]Kane[/name_m] Chronicles and [name_m]Jimmy[/name_m] [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. But if you want to use it for a girl, I agree with everything @erin91 said. I’d hyphinate it so its obviously feminine. And I like the suggestion of [name_f]Cara[/name_f] (CAR-uh).
At first glance at this thread I thought you meant [name_u]Carter[/name_u] for a boy. I mean, gotta [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_u]Carter[/name_u], but I just can’t see it for a girl. I’m all for some unisex names but it seems now with all of the unisex names going to girls the boys will have nothing left. And some of these names don’t even work on girls, like [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. I do like the middle name [name_f]Grace[/name_f] for a girl, though it’s quite common atm it’s still beautiful. I’d suggest [name_f]Cynthia[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] instead of [name_u]Carter[/name_u].
You might also like:
[name_f]Clara[/name_f]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]
[name_u]Dana[/name_u]
[name_f]Cara[/name_f]
[name_f]Celine[/name_f]
Though I’ve never been a fan of masculine-surnames on girls myself, I am fast realising that they do indeed work for girls - the person makes the name, not the name the person. [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has a great flow and [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is sweet, simple, classy and feminine which definitely helps [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. As for nicknames, [name_f]Cate[/name_f], [name_f]Cece[/name_f], [name_u]Ari[/name_u] or [name_m]Artie[/name_m] would work.
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] could work on a girl fine, with a feminine middle like [name_f]Grace[/name_f], [name_u]June[/name_u], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], etc.
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] could be nicknamed [name_f]Teri[/name_f] or [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] or even [name_f]Cat[/name_f].
[name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] / [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_u]June[/name_u] / [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] / [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Gracelyn[/name_f] / [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f] / [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f]
NMS for a girl, but I guess you could use [name_f]Carrie[/name_f] or [name_f]Cara[/name_f] as a nickname.
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
While I’m not a huge fan of [name_u]Carter[/name_u] on a girl, I do know two female [name_u]Carter[/name_u]'s and they are both lovely. one is about 13 and the other is in her early 30s. I think grace definitely gives it the femininity that it needs
I think [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] flows nicely. I think it’s ok for a girl. For nicknames, I would use [name_f]Cara[/name_f] (car-uh) or [name_f]Cari[/name_f] (car-ee, not cair-ee).
There was a TV show last summer maybe called Finding [name_u]Carter[/name_u] and the main character (a girl) was named [name_u]Carter[/name_u]. It’s becoming more and more popular for girls, so that’s a plus for you. [name_u]Carter[/name_u] is a last name, and I think last names are the most unisex names out there. [name_m]Just[/name_m] pair [name_u]Carter[/name_u] with a more feminine middle name and you’re golden. [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is lovely, although [name_f]Grace[/name_f] is a little overused.
Not a fan at all. [name_u]Carter[/name_u] is too masculine for a girl in my opinion. I kmow a little girl named [name_u]Carter[/name_u] and it didn’t fit her very well. Maybe [name_f]Carly[/name_f]?
I know some female Carters, so I don’t have any problem seeing this as a girls name. I also like it paired with [name_f]Grace[/name_f]- a classic girls middle. [name_u]Carter[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] has a nice ring to it. As for a nickname, I’d go with “[name_f]Cari[/name_f]” (cahr-ee).
