Casimir VS Caspar

[name_f]Ottilie[/name_f] had a beautiful description of [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] from last year, so I included it here:

“Ancient forest at twilight, traveling roads. Men in velvet fur lined capes riding through on beautiful chestnut horses. Mystical and misty, hawks and falcons. The scent of coffee, whiskey, roses and leather. [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] is nobility and royalty. I think of the Stark boys…”

[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] is more regality and Arabian caravan trails to me, while others only think of the ghost. Would the handsome [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] make a better alternative?

Which one do you prefer and why?

If neither, do you have any suggestions? Thank you! :stuck_out_tongue:

I don’t know. I like both, but often times wether I really like a name depends on the pronunciation. For instance… I like a lot of British names, but the pronunciation where I live would be dreadful so I don’t think I would ever choose one of those names. I’m not really sure where you’re from so I’m guessing (I could be wrong) your native language is english. I know how [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] is pronounced in english but not [name_m]Casimir[/name_m].
Pronounced in dutch however I prefer [name_m]Casimir[/name_m]. [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]/[name_m]Casper[/name_m] is so popular it’s time for a new name. And Ottlilie’s description of [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] is perfect.

[name_m]Casimir[/name_m]. I love it  [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] is lovely too though.

I love both names but I prefer [name_m]Casimir[/name_m]. It’s royal, saintly, romantic and has loads of Continental flair. I love the nn Miro too. [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] always reminds me of the words “gas bar” and “casbah” so that kind of diminishes the name a bit in my estimation.

I like both. I thought I preferred [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] until I read the beautiful description for [name_m]Casimir[/name_m]

I think both are lovely, but I prefer [name_m]Caspar[/name_m].

I prefer [name_m]Caspar[/name_m].
[name_m]Casimir[/name_m] is beautiful but since visiting Cracow and walking through “Kazimierz”, that pronunciation is where my mind goes to after reading [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] (for whatever reason, I don’t get it either).
I do love both names though and get pretty much the same imagery from them.

I like [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]… it reminds me of [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u]

[name_m]Casimir[/name_m] seems like it’s just trying too hard… if that makes any sense.

[name_m]Casimir[/name_m] is lovely, but I much prefer the sound of [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite [name_m]Cas[/name_m]- name is [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and I secretly love Castiel, but it’s too Supernatural.

In theory I like both, but in practice I am partial towards [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]. When I say it outloud, [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] sounds a bit too Medieval, which I am sure is not the right context, but that is where my brain takes me. It is old and interesting, but not adaptable to current times.

[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] sounds grand and strong. Like [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] it sounds historic, but also contemporary.
