My current name dilemma if baby is a boy;
I love the name [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] with [name_m]Casper[/name_m] as a nickname. I do love [name_m]Casper[/name_m] as its own name, but I feel like [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is just lovely and perhaps more workable for an adult (feel free to challenge me on that though!)
My big issue is that I want to honor my father, [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], and make his name a middle name. My first son has two middle names so I’d like to carry on with that, and initially had [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde picked out which is still the front runner.
However, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to make [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] work together. I considered [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] but it still looks wrong to me to have that ‘-ian’ recurring. Otherwise, just tell me to drop it and stick with the name I’ve got so far. The ‘Wilde/[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]’ middle name isn’t necessarily set in stone, I just like the sound of it but we were also considering ‘[name_f]Snow[/name_f]’ and ‘[name_m]Fox[/name_m]’. I do like the single syllable paired with the three syllable middle name. I’m 37 weeks pregnant and starting to panic this little one won’t have a name if they’re a boy !
Thanks in advance !
[name_m]Casper[/name_m] and [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] are two of my favourite names, but if it were up to me, I’d probably drop [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and use [name_m]Casper[/name_m] as a first. For one, I don’t really see why you would use [name_m]Casper[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]; I’m not a fan of using established names as nicknames anyhow. If you think you would call him [name_m]Casper[/name_m] more than half of the time, then that seems like a better choice.
Taking into account your middle name dilemma, [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] sounds like a wonderful choice. I don’t think you can force [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] to work, because like you mentioned, they both end in the same sound. Overall, they’re both lovely names, but in this case I think [name_m]Casper[/name_m] is the better choice.
I hope this answer helps! Best of luck!
Unsurprisingly, I prefer [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], but I do think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] in the same combo isn’t ideal. Of course it’s perfectly possible, seeing as middles aren’t used a whole lot and flow really isn’t everything. I think you could maybe use [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] as an honour name for [name_m]Adrian[/name_m], but [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde is such a wonderful combo, I’d be inclined to just use [name_m]Casper[/name_m]. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] that made sense (and helled a bit).
If you’re going to primarily call him [name_m]Casper[/name_m] then use that one. Though I like both names, I actually think [name_m]Casper[/name_m] ages better than [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and I agree with @vestigesofsummer that I don’t particularly like [name_m]Casper[/name_m] as a nickname for [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] because I feel like it’s an established name on it’s own. It also solves your middle name issue to use [name_m]Casper[/name_m]. [name_m]Casper[/name_m] [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] Wilde is a fantastic combo.
Thanks for your thoughts guys, I really appreciate it.
I totally agree with you all. I really love [name_m]Casper[/name_m] in it’s own right, especially paired with the middle names I’ve chosen. I considered [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] first and concluded it really didn’t work, and even when I tried to make it work the repeating ‘-ian’ ending just bothered me too much (and still does!). I’ve only told a select few people that we liked the name [name_m]Casper[/name_m] and the feedback was very mixed; a couple of people absolutely loved it and the others made ‘that face’ and some kind of ghost reference. Anyway, I think I was letting other people’s opinions influence my own and I shouldn’t because I love the name [name_m]Casper[/name_m] and I think it pairs beautifully with my son’s name, [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], as a quirky sibset.
Thanks again for the feedback!
