Caspian nn and mn?

ETA: This is going to be MY name. Not a baby’s. I am severing this connection to the harrowing childhood at the hands of the person who named me. I am finally going to be called something that doesn’t instantly send my body into high alert. The unfortunate circumstances of our life killed my little brother. I am taking his first name as my new last name.

Both names are
[Consonant] - as - [consonant] and then have I and N later in the name.

Is Cate too big of a stretch from Caspian for a nickname?

Middle names that start with C?

C as a stand-alone middle name?

I am dead-set on the name Caspian; it’s uncommon but not unprofessional, easy to say, easy to fingerspell, soft enough to feel feminine, but masculine enough to be advantageous as an email signature.

caspian for a girl is unexpected!

i think cate could work as a nickname if the middle name began with a T.

other nicknames that could work-
cassie
cash
pia
[name_f]Cece[/name_f]

personally i wouldn’t use just the letter C as a middle name because the name would then sound like the actual [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Sea[/name_u] which is very wordy imo.

middle names that start with C
i’d probably go for something more feminine and not too wordy.

For me, yes too big of a stretch. But you of course can use any nickname you like!

Cecilia, Clara

I’m not sure if I understand this correctly. You mean just C as a name? Honestly, I find that weird and don’t recommend it.

The last name is really long and kind of severe sounding. So I was going to leave no middle name, but read that can make documents and records challenging.

Then I thought C would be hilarious by itself.

It’s for myself… Not a baby. I am shedding the name tied to a tumultuous childhood.

I think as others have said [name_f]Cate[/name_f] works if the middle name has a T, otherwise it’s a stretch but still works I think

C middle names:
[name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosette[/name_f]
[name_f]Cosima[/name_f]

[name_f]Cate[/name_f] doesn’t feel intuitive but it could work if you enforce it. Maybe you could do [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] or [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]? I think C as a middle works if you’re comfortable with it.

[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Carina[/name_f]

I’m not sure on Cate for Caspian. It doesn’t quite make sense to me. Maybe with a t middle as a stretch but it feels a bit redundant with the fabulous Caspian.

Seconding this too.

Caspian Charlotte
Caspian Clara
Caspian Ciara
Caspian Cleo
Caspian Cadence
Caspian Cora

Totally adore Caspian!! [name_f]Glad[/name_f] to see someone bringing it over to the feminine side!!

I would say nn Cas/Cass

[name_f]Cate[/name_f] is a stretch.

Does it become less “stretchy” if I include the fact that I’m deaf and to me [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] are basically identical?

I think you could definitely make [name_f]Cate[/name_f] work. People give their kids names that sound nothing like the real name. I wouldn’t worry about a ‘T’ middle name as most people won’t even know your kids middle name anyway. I also think [name_f]Cassie[/name_f] is adorable and probably the most obvious (people will probably call her this anyway). As for a middle name I agree with something more feminine perhaps:
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] (not sure about the alliteration though)
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Jeanette[/name_f]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] Claire/ Clara/ [name_f]Claudette[/name_f]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Leila[/name_f]

I think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] is a great choice of name. Good luck :crossed_fingers:

For you, it makes more sense. But not for other people, who hear them as separate names.

Also, if you feel like answering (no pressure, i’m sure this is annoying at this point), what is it like being deaf? I’ve never met a deaf person before.

I LOVE being deaf!

I don’t think I’d enjoy being hearing at all. I have cochlear implants and love them. I hear very close to “normal” but the prospect of life without impenetrable silence seems like a fate worse than death by a thousand bees.

I honestly can’t fathom how people who aren’t deaf ever get to sleep. It just seems like such a horrible, restrictive life to be locked into a world full of sound.

Nearly every suggestion you just made has been on my list!!!

There will emphatically be no “Cass” or “Cassie” happening here.

It’s going to be my name. I am rescuing myself from an unfathomably dark upbringing and couldn’t be more excited. But I’m not going to answer to [name_u]Cass[/name_u].

Interesting to hear. I will admit that I wasn’t expecting that but it makes sense. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, in some ways it does suck to be hearing. But in others it is great – I have a hard time imagining my life without music, for example. But as an autistic person it does especially suck when things get loud & your senses are overwhelmed.

How about Caytiana… Like [name_u]Cay[/name_u] and [name_f]Tiana[/name_f] mashed together?

That keeps the C
Gives me a real [name_f]Cate[/name_f] sound
[name_f]Cat[/name_f] means warrior and [name_f]Tiana[/name_f] means joy.

[name_u]Perfect[/name_u] description for my situation.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] those names make sense combined?

I really like [name_m]Cas[/name_m], [name_f]Cassie[/name_f], and [name_m]Cash[/name_m] as nns for [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] and I think [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_f]Cate[/name_f] is really cool!
