I really like the name [name]Cassie[/name] for a girl, but I’m not fond of the name [name]Cassandra[/name]. Another option is [name]Cassia[/name], and while that’s fine, I still just like [name]Cassie[/name] by itself. Is that not a good idea to put that name on a birth certificate? Or can it stand alone?
If you love [name]Cassie[/name] I feel like it’s a fine nn/name.
I don’t usually like nn/fn’s but [name]Cassie[/name] works for me as I really don’t understand why parents would name their daughter [name]Cassandra[/name] - the myth is just too damning for me. I think the only longer option of [name]Cassie[/name] I’d like is [name]Cassiopeia[/name].
I love [name]Cassie[/name], [name]Cassandra[/name], [name]Cassidy[/name] and [name]Cassia[/name]! I love the sound of [name]Cass[/name] in general. I personally prefer [name]Cassia[/name], and I consider it a little more substantial that just plain [name]Cassie[/name]. But I think [name]Cassie[/name] has been used long enough as a first name on its own that it would be fine.
I think [name]Cassie[/name] would be fine on its own.
I love [name]Cassie[/name]! And I think it works fine on it’s own.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Cassandra[/name] too, and would probably still use it even though her tale is quite tragic.
I’m in love with [name]Cassia[/name] at the moment, gorgeous name!
Other names that you could get [name]Cassie[/name] from:
~ [name]Acacia[/name]
~ [name]Cassiane[/name] (cass-ee-ah-nee)
~ [name]Cassio[/name]
~ [name]Cassity[/name]
[name]Cassie[/name] is fine on it’s own, but I’d prefer [name]Cassidy[/name] nn [name]Cassie[/name].
[name]Cassie[/name] is a lovely nickname but it doesn’t make a good given name, [name]IMO[/name].
[name]Cassie[/name] is totally fine on its own. I know a woman (she’s 32 now and is my godmother’s oldest daughter) who goes exclusively by [name]Cassie[/name]. Her given name is [name]Cassandra[/name] but I didn’t even know that until a couple of years ago because no one calls her that! The fact that she even has a “full” name is weird to me, everyone knows her as just [name]Cassie[/name]. And it totally works. I say go for it!
I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Cassie[/name]! (I was almost named [name]Cassidy[/name] when I was born, nickname [name]Cassie[/name]. Honestly, at time, I wish I had been.) And I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Cassidy[/name]. But I do think [name]Cassie[/name] is good enough to be a stand alone name.
[name]Cassie[/name] is one of those names that can stand alone. It’s a lovely nn and name.
I like the name, but not on its own. If [name]Cassandra[/name] doesn’t work for you, maybe [name]Cassidy[/name]?
I am a big believer in options. If you have a chance to give your child some versatility - especially since [name]Cassie[/name] is a somewhat young-sounding name without a lot of gravitas - I would go ahead and give her a longer name and use [name]Cassie[/name] as a nickname. Something longer with a little more gravity would work better in professional life.
Since you don’t like [name]Cassandra[/name] or [name]Cassia[/name], what about [name]Cassiane[/name]? Casilda? [name]Casiah[/name]? [name]Casya[/name]? [name]Cassidy[/name]?
I agree with missusaytch - I don’t personally think that [name]Cassie[/name] would give your daughter the versatility that she may want. If you don’t like [name]Cassandra[/name] (I absolutely love it!), there are many other first name options with the nickname [name]Cassie[/name]. Or, you could call her something like [name]CAtherine[/name] [name]SIEnna[/name] (just a example) and then have [name]Cassie[/name] as a nickname? Good luck!
I don’t think [name]Cassie[/name] can stand alone. I vote for [name]Cassia[/name].
I [name]LOVE[/name] it! Can totally stand alone although there are some cool names out there with the nn [name]Cassie[/name].
I think [name]Cassie[/name] could work by itself if you really want, but I vote for [name]Cassia[/name] nn [name]Cassie[/name] since you don’t like [name]Cassandra[/name].
As a [name]Cassie[/name], I think it’s ok, but I have to admit that I really, really appreciate having a “full” , formal name to go by at work. (I’m a [name]Cassandra[/name]).
[name]Cassie[/name] was the only name SO ever suggested as one he really liked. I suggested [name]Acacia[/name] with the nn [name]Cassie[/name] but he wasn’t feeling it. To me, [name]Cassie[/name] alone is too nicknamey and doesn’t have enough substance to it. But [name]Acacia[/name] was the only full name connected to it I like. [name]Cassandra[/name] and [name]Cassidy[/name] are blah.
I completely agree with this. I like the ability to choose what I go by, especially since [name]Cassie[/name] DOES sound quite young and believe it or not, it can be very difficult for people to say or catch on to. I used to work with the elderly and NO [name]ONE[/name] ever got [name]Cassie[/name], I was always called [name]Kathy[/name], I think mostly because they couldn’t hear very well, but even now, I work with children and I have them call me by my first name and they CONSTANTLY ask me how to say my name. In both situations, I just started going by [name]Cassandra[/name].
Also, the tragic myth has never given me any issues what-so-ever, it’s never effected my psyche, it’s never caused any teasing or heartache - in fact, I love having a connection to mythology.
