[name]Caterina[/name]: I like because it’s Italian.
[name]Katerina[/name]: I like because it’s easier to get the nn [name]Kate[/name], or [name]Katya[/name]/[name]Katia[/name].
I like both C and K pretty much equally. I do get different vibes from each though.
I would go with [name]Caterina[/name] if you have Italian heritage, while I would go with [name]Katerina[/name] if you have Scandinavian or Eastern European heritage. I like them both equally, as you’ve said, on paper, I get different vibes from both.
[name]Caterina[/name] reminds me of a cattery. She would get the nick name [name]Cat[/name] for sure. I would prefer [name]Katerina[/name] because then she could go by [name]Kate[/name] like you say. [name]Do[/name] you like [name]Catalina[/name] at all?
[name]Katerina[/name]! I am one of those that prefers the “C” spelling 99.9% of the time, but [name]Katerina[/name] is the one exception for me! [name]Caterina[/name] just looks… wrong, for some reason. I think [name]Catarina[/name] is okay, too, but I like [name]Katerina[/name] more. It looks more streamlined and suits [name]Kate[/name]'s personality, imo. I also absolutely adore [name]Ekaterina[/name], so I like that just [name]Katerina[/name] reminds me of that.
I prefer [name]Katerina[/name]. I’m another who prefers [name]Catherine[/name], but like the more elaborated forms (with the exception of [name]Catriona[/name]) to start with a K.
[name]Katharina[/name] was actually our #2 choice for our daughter.
I like [name]Katerina[/name] more because it seems more slavic to me, plus I tend to prefer [name]Katherine[/name] or [name]Kathryn[/name] as well. In general, I like C names more, but something about the [name]Catherine[/name] variants makes me prefer Ks for them lol
I also like the look of [name]Katerina[/name] in print over [name]Caterina[/name]. [name]Caterina[/name] looks like [name]Cate[/name]-erina to me for some reason.
I struggle with this same problem, only between [name]Caterina[/name] (Italian heritage on dad’s side) and [name]Katarina[/name] (Slovak heritage & Great-grandmother’s birth name). But for me, I don’t really like [name]Kate[/name] or [name]Cate[/name], and would prefer [name]Kat[/name]/[name]Cat[/name] or [name]Kata[/name]/Cata so I usually favor [name]Katarina[/name]. So, for you, I would consider what you’d like to ultimately call her.
Definitely [name]Caterina[/name]! Haha, as you can tell it’s my top pick for a girl. I really dislike “K” names, so I’m partial to it, and I’m Italian. The name is so beautiful Of course it’s up to you, but I prefer the C version. You can just as easily get “[name]Cate[/name]” from [name]Caterina[/name].
This is very true! But my brain reads it different, so with [name]Katerina[/name] I get nn [name]Kate[/name], but with [name]Caterina[/name], I get nn [name]Cat[/name]. So it’s like two different names to me almost! lol. I’ll keep both, and then when I have her I’ll just go with whatever I think she looks like.
I like both but I agree they give off different vibes. I aslso agree with shaymin that it depends on whether you want an Italian/Spanish feel or a Russian one. Maybe you could decide by which mn you want to pair it with or siblings names. I remember an earlier poll where your fav for a first daughter was [name]Alessandra[/name]. I think [name]Caterina[/name] would go better with [name]Alessandra[/name].
