Cecile?

Struggling for a girl name this time around, and this is the latest suggestion of DH’s.

I like it a lot, but I’m not sure if it’s really “us”.

Thoughts on [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] please?

I like it. It’s really nice. All though, I do prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] more

Is bit pronounced kind of like siss -eel or another way.
Visually it’s very appealing but I think it’s one that I need to think more about

It feels a bit frumpy next to your kids for me. I think of it as very similar to [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Celeste[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Cecile[/name_f], but I would agree that it doesn’t have the same vibe as [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. [name_f]Circe[/name_f] would fit better I think.

I do love [name_f]Circe[/name_f] but it’s a bit loaded for real-life use, I think!

(Although, I guess you could say the same about [name_f]Juno[/name_f]…)

I really like the look and sound of [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] (though I prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]) but I just don’t think she has the right vibe as [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u], as a pp said.

I actually really like [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_u]Kit[/name_u] and [name_f]Circe[/name_f] though! I think [name_f]Circe[/name_f] works perfectly with [name_f]Juno[/name_f].

I agree with the previous posters that [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] doesn’t really match [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u]. [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] is very grown-up and elegant in feel for me; I think of 1920s imagery, lace and [name_f]Agatha[/name_f] [name_u]Christie[/name_u]. [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u] on the other hand are very bouncy and youthful. [name_f]Circe[/name_f] is a bit too much for me, but I could see [name_f]Celia[/name_f] or maybe [name_f]Cicely[/name_f] with your sibset. There’s no rule that sibling names have to match though, so if you love [name_f]Cecile[/name_f], why not!

I adore the name [name_f]Cecile[/name_f]. Can’t stand [name_f]Celeste[/name_f], but love [name_f]Cecile[/name_f]. To me, it is elegant, streamlined, sophisticated, feminine, strong. Have only met one [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] and she was older.

I don’t dislike [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] but it feels austere in comparison to your older kids’ names. Also it reminds me of a character in the movie Cruel Intentions who was rather naive and silly, so I don’t have the best association there.

It’s a pretty name, but I wouldn’t recommend it, I guess is what I’m trying to say.

I think that [name_f]Celia[/name_f] works better with [name_f]Juno[/name_f] and [name_u]Kit[/name_u].

Thanks for the thoughts. I have to agree with most that it doesn’t really feel like a great fit for our family — sorry DH!

I do really love [name_f]Cicely[/name_f], so thanks for reminding me of that one @kew

I prefer [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]. I can’t decide on how to pronounce [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] without it sounding bad.
