I always liked [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] but it was used in the family.
I just noticed [name_u]Cedar[/name_u] and I like it.
Thoughts on this name?
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it will go over to the girl’s side?
Thanks!!

Sorry, but like many wonderful boy names in the past ([name_u]Tristan[/name_u], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_u]Lindsay[/name_u], [name_u]Whitney[/name_u], etc.), i see this going over to the feminine side. I just finished a young adult novel where the main character was a young girl named [name_u]Cedar[/name_u].
I think this sounds like a boys’ name, and the connection to a strong, sturdy tree seals that idea for me. Similar to other male nature names I have been seeing: [name_u]Oak/name_u, [name_m]Forrest[/name_m], etc.
I don’t really see it going to the girls, although it could definitely be used for either. I also love [name_m]Cedric[/name_m], and I think [name_u]Cedar[/name_u] could be a great replacement!
I really like [name_u]Cedar[/name_u] and it’s all boy and masculine to me. I agree with @willa_cather regarding the connection to a strong tree. I wouldn’t want to wear the name as a girl and while there may be some parents who choose it for a girl, I really see it as a boy’s name.
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u] is gorgeous for a male. Go for it!
I love [name_u]Cedar[/name_u]. It’s one of those names that would be on my list if it wasn’t already way too long! Definitely a boys name to me.
I love [name_u]Cedar[/name_u], and I think it sounds very masculine. I do imagine there will be girls named [name_u]Cedar[/name_u], but I think its closeness to [name_m]Cedric[/name_m] will make it more popular for boys.
