Yay or nay to [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]??

I prefer [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] to [name_f]Celestine[/name_f], personally. [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] is a bit clunky to my ear.

I think [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] is lovely. It reminds me of the childrens’ books, [name_m]Ernest[/name_m] and [name_f]Celestine[/name_f].

I love [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]! I think it sounds very elegant, and I love the celestial connection. It’s both unique and familiar.

(For the record I pronounce it SELL-ess-teen)

Usually I prefer the shorter and more tailored version of a name but there is something very pretty and appealing about [name_f]Celestine[/name_f]…

I prefer [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] as the proper name. Nothing would prevent you from using [name_f]Celestine[/name_f] when she’s young, or the Spanish version Celestita, or the Italian version [name_f]Celestina[/name_f]. I would hesitate to have the diminutive -ine on the proper name forever, and let her have the choice as she gets older to use it or not. She might find as an adult that having a younger name might not suit her career, for example.
