[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I can’t decide on spelling for baby girl. I worry that [name_f]Cella[/name_f] will be mispronounced as “Sella,” but the other end of the argument is that [name_f]Cella[/name_f] is the “correct” spelling. The name is to be pronounced “Ch-ella”. Thoughts?
While I do think spelling it [name_f]Cella[/name_f] will probably get mispronunciations, I personally think it’s worth it.
Chella (said [name_f]Chela[/name_f]) is also slang for beer in Mexico, I like [name_f]Cella[/name_f] it reminds me of [name_f]Aella[/name_f] which I love
I agree that [name_f]Cella[/name_f] is the best way to go here. Ch-ella is a wonderful sound and although there may be some mispronunciations, this spelling IS the original. It’s minimalistic and beautiful.
I’d go with [name_f]Cella[/name_f].
I prefer Chella
I like [name_f]Cella[/name_f], reminds me of like [name_f]Selah[/name_f] and [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f].
I would pronounce these two names differently. [name_f]Cella[/name_f] I would say sell-uh" and Chella I would say “chel-uh”.
If you’re wanting the chel-uh pronunciation then I would spell it Chella. I think you will get a lot of mispronunciation with [name_f]Cella[/name_f]. I’ve never heard either name so I would just assume Chella was the way you normally spelled it.
I think [name_f]Cella[/name_f] is great- it’s an easy pronunciation to correct!
I don’t think [name_f]Cella[/name_f] would get the pronunciation you’re after. It would be an easy correction but it would be a lifetime of it. If that would bother you, then it would likely bother your daughter, and I think Chella might be better.
