[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries! I’m in my 20s thinking of some new names/ combos for myself (or just to add to my list).
I’m not going to change my name legally. But I want to use the first name (or the nns) professionally, or the variations as a penname.
Naming myself is like a special ritual, and I’m having a lot of fun with it!
I’m looking for names that are: Regal/ aristocratic/ classic, timeless, not too frilly, and well-recognised with less spelling/ pronunciation problems.
For middles I guess I could be more creative since I won’t use it openly(?) lol, but still have similar styles with FN. Still learning towards classic, but it all depends on the combos really.
Themes/ meanings: Guiding star (was looking for alternatives to [name_f]Stella[/name_f] [name_f]Maris[/name_f] but can’t come up with THE name), light, shining, sea, dreams, heaven, cosmos, freedom… Something starry and magical, but grounded.
Last name is one syllable and sounds like “Uh-mm”.
Asking for honest opinions on these names, combos you can make from it, or more suggestions!
Give me your favourite, stunning combos!
[name_f]Anastasia[/name_f] “Anna” - Tbh my associations were Cinderella’s stepsister and the grand duchess. But after I found out it means “resurrection”, my opinions totally changed. Now I find it so powerful and it’s starting to grow on me. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is kind of meh for me, but it’s classic and a simple, professional name. Does the full name sound too Russian?
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] “Kate” - [name_u]Royal[/name_u] name, quite short (2-syllables), and I relate to naive, fiction-lover [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] Morland. [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] was lovely as well in the movie.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - [name_u]Royal[/name_u] name and means freedom. I’m doubting whether it fits me…
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - Was supposed to be my legal name but didn’t happen. I like the [name_u]Jo[/name_u] [name_u]March[/name_u] association, and the -ine ending sounds kinda starry the more I repeat it, like pristine? I associate it with dreams because of Joseph’s visions/ dreams (I’m not religious though).
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - This name has everything I want except for the sound. And possible misspellings? I love that it means “shining, radiant”, and has associations to the moon. I relate it to Phoenice which is supposedly an ancient name for [name_u]Polaris[/name_u] (Stella [name_f]Maris[/name_f] association). It’s short and simple, but has history and all the associations I want. BUT I just don’t know about fee-bee and how others would spell it. Wdyt?
[name_u]Light[/name_u] names like [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] should be a perfect fit, but it sounds awkward when I pronounce it so that’s off the list…
