Changing a Name Legally

I’m thinking about changing my own name legally but I’m not quite sure what I’d like. I want it to go with my personality (fun and crazy but can still be serious), something I won’t regret, something that has a cute nickname, but yet something that still sounds professional.

Right now my first name is [name]Amber[/name] [name]Lee[/name], and my middle name is [name]Rose[/name]. I am going to keep [name]Lee[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] but I’m going to combine them as a double middle name. They are both family names, but [name]Amber[/name] isn’t and it’s so common in my generation. I’ve met at least 10 [name]Ambers[/name] throughout middle school and high school. Also, most of them were the kind of girls who had a bad reputation so when they hear my name they just think of those other girls.

I like vintage names and I also girly names. I’d love to hear any names of any style also though. My last name is Bloom right now, but I’m engaged to someone named Goodchild, so I’d like a name that sounds good with both Bloom and Goodchild. [name]Feel[/name] free to make give good and bad points about the names you’re giving, and please leave all the nicknames that comes with them that you can think of.

Thanks!

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Amber[/name]!

[name]Just[/name] something to think about - why not combine [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Lee[/name], your current middle names, into [name]Rosalie[/name]? I think it is a stunning, feminine, and sassy middle name!

I’d stray away from flower names with the surname Bloom, and I don’t think you want anything too vintage with the surname Goodchild, considering it has a quirky, vintage flair of its own. Such great surnames to work with!

[name]Alice[/name] - [name]Alice[/name] is a classic vintage name with spunk and character. The name is playful and sweet, whimsical and fun, yet it isn’t weighed down by excessive frills, making it a great choice for a professional setting, too. [name]Alice[/name] seems to give you the best of both worlds, I think. If you want a pet name, try the modern [name]Ali[/name]! The only drawback? The strong association with [name]Alice[/name] in Wonderland, which, though a wonderful classic, is about the craziest film I’ve ever seen! Another drawback - if you decide to use [name]Rosalie[/name] ([name]Rose[/name] + [name]Lee[/name]), you’ll have a Twilight-heavy name…

SUGGESTION - [name]Alice[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom Goodchild

[name]Miriam[/name] - [name]Miriam[/name] is a down-to-earth, unexpected Biblical name with strong character. It conveys to me a woman with good morals, a strong sense of self, and a strong devotion to family and nature. However, [name]Miriam[/name] feels fresh and unique and unexpected, thus giving it a bit of a fun feel! You get the cute [name]Miri[/name] nickname, too! Only drawback? It is a bit Biblical, being the name of [name]Moses[/name]’ sister…

SUGGESTION - [name]Miriam[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom Goodchild

[name]Willa[/name] - [name]Willa[/name] is a playful spin on [name]Wilhelmina[/name], and I think it sounds modern and funky while maintaining a distinctly vintage feel. The name sounds pretty when you say it, delicate and soft, yet it isn’t too frilly as to seem unprofessional. If you need a nickname, you could go by [name]Willie[/name] - I knew a girl back in middle school whose name was actually [name]Willie[/name], just [name]Willie[/name].

SUGGESTION - [name]Willa[/name] [name]Rosamund[/name] [name]Lee[/name] (Goodchild)

Let’s see if any of those three catch your eye. If so, then I’ll suggest more for you!

Oh! [name]Just[/name] thought of another! [name]Cecily[/name] would be perfect with Bloom or Goodchild, and I love its literary connection (The Importance of Being [name]Earnest[/name], [name]Oscar[/name] Wilde) and the fact that it is vintage and unexpected, yet fun and fresh! Ceci (or CC) could be sweet nicknames for you, too. Plus, you already get [name]Lee[/name] in there with the -ly ending, so you can experiment more with middle names! Drawback? The meaning, “blind,” isn’t too hot…

SUGGESTION - [name]Cecily[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (Goodchild)

Take care!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Thanks [name]Lemon[/name]!

I actually thought of [name]Rosalie[/name] after I posted this! I really love it too. I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Alice[/name], but I’m kind of turned off by the whole Twilight thing if you put them together.

I like the nn [name]Miri[/name], but not hot about [name]Miriam[/name]. Any other names that can have that nn?

[name]Willa[/name] reminds me of [name]Willow[/name], which reminds me of [name]Buffy[/name] the Vampire Slayer. [name]Don[/name]'t ask why I make that association because I don’t know why I automatically think of that either lol.

[name]Cecily[/name] sound really pretty, but a lot of people call my cousin CC

Here are some of the kind of names that I like (these are some names that I have for future children, and also just names on my favorite list. This is just for you to get the feel of my style. I guess my style is kind of all over the place.):
[name]Alice[/name] (of course)
[name]Rosalie[/name] (of course, again)
[name]Aurora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Rory[/name]
[name]Lillianna[/name] [name]Belle[/name] nn [name]Lily[/name], [name]Anna[/name]
[name]Evelyn[/name] nn [name]Evie[/name], [name]Lyn[/name]
Lucielle nn [name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] (although I pronounce it [name]Jen[/name]-ah-veve, which I heard isn’t the correct pronouncement but I still like it that way) nn [name]Eve[/name], [name]Evie[/name], [name]Genie[/name], or [name]Jenny[/name]
[name]Romilly[/name] [name]Jane[/name] nn [name]Milly[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] nn Scar? I can’t come up with any others. This name doesn’t really fit in with the rest but I like it
[name]Alexandria[/name] nn [name]Alex[/name], [name]Ria[/name], Xandria, [name]Andy[/name], [name]Ally[/name], and [name]Lexi[/name] (I love all the nicknames for this one).
[name]Gabriella[/name] nn [name]Ella[/name], [name]Gabby[/name], [name]Brie[/name]

I guess you can say I have a thing for names that sound really girly, and end in a -y -ie sound, more than vintage.

And remember that I am still thinking about keeping [name]Lee[/name] [name]Rose[/name], although I really, really am loving [name]Rosalie[/name] right now!

Thanks, again

Can I just say that I am really jealous of the last name Goodchild? Fantastic.

So a fun, vintage, girly name that can also be serious? I would suggest [name]Cordelia[/name], and I love the nn [name]Cora[/name]. It kind of has the [name]Lee[/name] sound (if you’re open to incorporating this into the first name), but you hear it even more in [name]Coralie[/name], which is also very pretty. But I do love the suggestion of mn [name]Rosalie[/name] as a way to use [name]Rose[/name] and [name]Lee[/name]…

[name]Cordelia[/name]/[name]Coralie[/name] [name]Rose[/name] (nn [name]Cora[/name])

[name]Dorothea[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] (nn [name]Thea[/name])
[name]Philippa[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] (nn [name]Pippa[/name])

[name]Hi[/name], [name]Amber[/name]!

Okay, if you like [name]Miri[/name] as a nickname, or even [name]Mira[/name], why not use [name]Mirabelle[/name]? It sounds fresh and fun, quirky and cool, yet it has a sophisticated, vintage, feminine flavor. I also think that [name]Miranda[/name] could work, and I adore [name]Miranda[/name] for its [name]Shakespeare[/name] connection and the fact that it sounds so fresh and feminine! [name]Mirabelle[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] or [name]Miranda[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name], perhaps?

I also think that [name]Estella[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] might be your style, too, as it is feminine and fun, not too common but not unheard of, and it also ties into great literary history - Dickens’ Great Expectations ([name]Estella[/name] Havisham)! I love [name]Estella[/name], and you get [name]Stella[/name], [name]Estee[/name], or [name]Essa[/name] as nicknames!

[name]Penelope[/name] “[name]Poppy[/name]” might work, too, as it is quirky and whimsical, yet entirely professional. There aren’t too many [name]Penelope[/name]'s out there, either, so it is an uncommon and original choice! [name]Penelope[/name] [name]Rose[/name] is gorgeous, but you might have to let go of [name]Lee[/name] with this name… ([name]Calliope[/name] “[name]Callie[/name]” or “[name]Calla[/name]” is another in this same boat.)

Let me know!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Hey hoodie,

It’s interesting you’re jealous of Goodchild. Everyone either asks, “Okay, for real, though, what’s your last name?” or even more commonly, “Well, were you a good child?” lol

I really like [name]Coralie[/name] [name]Rose[/name]!
[name]Dorothy[/name] is my mother’s name so [name]Dorothea[/name] would be too close to her name.
When I look at [name]Philippa[/name], I think [name]Phil[/name], which was the name of my boss at my first job, who always was so horrible

[name]Hi[/name] again [name]Lemon[/name]!

I actually love [name]Mirabelle[/name], but I’m planning on naming my first daughter [name]Lillianna[/name] [name]Belle[/name]. I am using that [name]Mirabelle[/name] in a book I’m writing though

Hmm, don’t know what to think of [name]Estella[/name] yet. I like the nn [name]Stella[/name] though.

[name]Penelope[/name] reminds me of [name]Penny[/name], my fiance’s mother’s name. Plus the nickname [name]Poppy[/name] with [name]Rose[/name] and Bloom (until I get married at least) sounds too flower-y to me.
Sorry, but I don’t really like [name]Calliope[/name].

Thank you both for the suggestions! Can’t wait to hear more

[name]Hi[/name]! From your list, I love [name]Genevieve[/name] Goodchild! I think it’s gorgeous.

Some names like [name]Alice[/name] or [name]Genevieve[/name] that you may like (not all of which work with [name]Rosalie[/name]):

[name]Anna[/name]

[name]Bryony[/name]
[name]Cassia[/name]
[name]Camille[/name]
[name]Dahlia[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]

[name]Natalia[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] (as a first name)
[name]Rosaline[/name]
[name]Simona[/name]
[name]Simone[/name]
[name]Vivia[/name]

Good luck!

Oh! I forgot to add [name]Amelie[/name] to my list (it contains part of your given name, [name]Amber[/name], plus the “lee” sound).

I love the suggestion of [name]Coralie[/name]!!! I think it’s gorgeous!

Have a good night!

Goodchild and Bloom are great last names! You’re lucky.
I love the idea of [name]Rosalie[/name] as your middle name.
I love the previous suggestions of [name]Amalie[/name] and [name]Coralie[/name].

[name]Amity[/name] [name]Rosalia[/name] Goodchild (see comment below) - [name]Amity[/name] sounds a lot like [name]Amber[/name] but is less common and sounds so sweet.
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Rosalia[/name] Goodchild(I changed [name]Rosalie[/name] to [name]Rosalia[/name] so that it would sound good with [name]Audrey[/name].)
[name]Cora[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Evelyn[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Frances[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild (I agree with [name]Jill[/name]!)
[name]Jane[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild (I might choose this one if I were you.)
[name]Jessamyn[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Katherine[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Laura[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Lea[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild - love
[name]Leona[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Mariel[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Melina[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Millicent[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild nn [name]Millie[/name]
[name]Natalia[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild nn [name]Talia[/name]
[name]Noemi[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Olive[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rachel[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Tessa[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Vivian[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild nn [name]Vivi[/name]
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Zandra[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild

Hey there [name]Jill[/name]

From your list, I like:
[name]Eleanor[/name], although I’m not too sure if I like it too much because it sounds a bit old to me
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Natalia[/name], although I like [name]Natalie[/name] more
[name]Marielle[/name]

I also like [name]Arabella[/name] and [name]Aurora[/name], but like [name]Mirabelle[/name], [name]Arabella[/name] has the “bell” sound in it. I’m hoping that I can use [name]Aurora[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] for a daughter one day.

I just remembered a name I used to like a long time ago: [name]Melody[/name]. Any thoughts? I like that, [name]Coralie[/name], [name]Rosalie[/name], and [name]Natalie[/name] for myself the most so far. But if I used [name]Melody[/name], I couldn’t use [name]Lee[/name] [name]Rose[/name] or [name]Rosalie[/name], so I think I’m crossing that one out. If I use [name]Coralie[/name] or [name]Natalie[/name], the middle name would be [name]Rose[/name].

What name could go with [name]Rosalie[/name], either as a first name or a middle name?

Wow, [name]Susan[/name], I like your list!
BTW, I posted the last post with the last question on it before I saw your post lol

From your list I like:
[name]Audrey[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name], although I’m not sure [name]Audrey[/name] would fit me
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] (I agree with you and [name]Jill[/name])
[name]Melina[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]

I forgot to add to my last post, but I meant to put [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] on there along with [name]Natalie[/name] and [name]Coralie[/name].

More first names to go with mn [name]Rosalie[/name]?

And I’d love to hear mn to go with [name]Rosalie[/name] as a first name

[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Claire[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Embeth[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Frances[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Harriet[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Katherine[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Marian[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] Paisha Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Rachel[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Tamsin[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Vera[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Victoria[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Willow[/name] Goodchild

[name]Hi[/name]! I think [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] is gorgeous, and I love [name]Coralie[/name], too (not to mention [name]Marielle[/name] and [name]Juliet[/name]). I love them all, and also really like your idea of using [name]Natalie[/name]. I’m so glad you’re finding names you love!

Some combos with [name]Rosalie[/name] and Bloom in the middle (I’ll include some longer ones, too, in case that’s what you’re looking for):

[name]Anna[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom
[name]Charlotte[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom (Oops! [name]Charlotte[/name] Goodchild kind of reminds me of a group called Good [name]Charlotte[/name]…)
[name]Camille[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom
[name]Della[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom
[name]Eva[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom
[name]Gemma[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom (Then again, with Goodchild, I think of a good child who’s a gem.)

If you’re looking for something longer:

[name]Juliet[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom
[name]Susannah[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom
[name]Vivian[/name]/[name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Bloom

[name]Rosalie[/name] as a first name (I love [name]Susan[/name]'s suggestion of [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] so much! I think it’s wonderful!):

[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Catherine[/name] Bloom
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Margaret[/name] Bloom ([name]Margaret[/name] Goodchild is G heavy, but if you’ll be keeping Bloom as a second middle, I think it’s pretty.)
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Camille[/name] Bloom
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Mireille[/name] Bloom (meer-AY)
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Margot[/name] Bloom (See [name]Margaret[/name]. [name]Even[/name] though both [name]Rosalie[/name] and [name]Margot[/name] have long O sounds, it still sounds pretty to me)

I love your list of favorites, [name]Amber[/name]!

Good luck!

[name]Edit[/name]: Okay…I was totally confused before! I have no idea why I thought you were keeping Bloom as a second middle after you were married, but I did! Sorry about that! On the bright side, most of the above work with Goodchild even if Bloom isn’t a second middle. Take care!

[name]Hi[/name], again!

I’m going to just go for an alphabet list, because I’m having a hard time coming up with something perfect for you. With [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild, I think a shorter first name would be great, though I do like [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name]!

[name]Anna[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Brigid[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Catherine[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Diana[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Elsa[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Frances[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Georgia[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Helena[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Jenna[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Lana[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Martha[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Olive[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Prudence[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild - Ha! So virtuous…
[name]Quinlan[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Risa[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Simone[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Therese[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild
[name]Vivian[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] Goodchild

Or, you could use [name]Rosalie[/name] as a first name, you know…

[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Blair[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Claire[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Dawn[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Faye[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Grace[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Kate[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Maeve[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Pearl[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Quinn[/name] Goodchild
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Wynne[/name] Goodchild

Good luck!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Okay,

I really like [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name] and a few other names with [name]Rosalie[/name] as a middle name, but I’ve decided that I definitely want [name]Rosalie[/name] as my first name. So what about [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]? I also like [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Camille[/name].

And just to make things clearer, I would like middle name suggestions for first name [name]Rosalie[/name], that goes with last name Bloom and also last name Goodchild. So it would be [name]Rosalie[/name] (insert middle name here) Bloom OR [name]Rosalie[/name] (insert middle name here) Goodchild.

Thank you guys

I love, love [name]Rosalie[/name] as a first name! [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Camille[/name] and [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] are all so beautiful! I think if it were me, I would choose [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] because it is so stunning.
I also really love [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] though. [name]Jane[/name] is such a comforting name that I would never get tired of. It never sounds dated. [name]Jane[/name] is so classic, too.
Have you ever heard a [name]Brian[/name] [name]Eno[/name] song called “[name]Rosalie[/name]”? It is one of my favorite songs ever.

[name]Hi[/name]!

Based on wanting [name]Rosalie[/name] as your first name - yay! - and wanting it to work with either Bloom or Goodchild, I definitely think a two-syllable middle name is the way to go…

[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Brigid[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Camille[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Diane[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Flora[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Gisele[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Helen[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Justine[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Karen[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Mabel[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Olive[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Patience[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Quinlan[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Rachel[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Simone[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Therese[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Willa[/name]
[name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Zora[/name]

Good luck!

[name]Lemon[/name]

Hey! I’m so happy you liked [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Camille[/name] Bloom/Goodchild! I also love [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name]!

If a short middle isn’t an issue for you with Bloom, I also love [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] (plus, you’ll soon be [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] Goodchild, and not [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name] Bloom).

I love all of your finalists, and I hope you choose the name you love the most! [name]Do[/name] you have a favorite out of your finalists? I think they’re all beautiful.

P.S. [name]How[/name]'ve you been? It’s great to see you here again!

Alright so my problem now is picking between [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] or [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Jane[/name]! lol. I’m leaning towards [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name], though, because it’s my favorite out of the two. But after I get married, do you think that [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] Goodchild is too much of a mouthful? I didn’t think about that, but I think that’s going to be my name regardless.

[name]Jill[/name],
I’ve been pretty good! Thanks for asking  I’ve been still on here when I can, just not posting. But I love to read some threads, like the games like if you had 20 children! Those are fun. [name]How[/name] are you?

I’m glad you’ve been good! I think the names you’re planning on using for your daughters are really pretty. Oh! I’ve been doing well, too. Thanks for asking!

Back to your names…I personally love longer names, so to me, [name]Rosalie[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] Goodchild isn’t too much at all (I think it’s beautiful), and I think it looks great written down, too!

More importantly, you love it! (I’d love it as my name, too, so I’ll just live through you vicariously.) I’m really excited for you, and I wish you and your new name (whichever you choose) all the happiness in the world!

Have a good night!
