I love the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for my wee one but we already have a boy called [name_m]George[/name_m]. Is it too [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family themed to use or does it not matter since both names are sooo common? Our son is [name_m]George[/name_m] [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] and our girl will be [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. Thoughts or suggestions? Thanks xx
If you’re in the UK I wouldn’t do it, though if you’re outside of the UK it might be more ok.
I’m not a huge fan of the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] has a nice flow to it, how about:
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
[name_f]Catherine[/name_f] (perhaps [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] or [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] to avoid having the same spelling as the Duchess)
[name_f]Margaret[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Harriet[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f]
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
I first thought of the [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family, and that would be unavoidable, no matter where you live. However, both names are lovely, and if you can get past people making that association all the time; they sound gorgeous together. It’s quite the perfect pairing.
I’m British and I didn’t even clock it, but now I can’t unsee it. I don’t think it’s a problem though, [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] are common names.
It is the first thing I thought of!
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
Both names are super common, especially in [name_f]England[/name_f] from what I gather - I’m sure there’s plenty of other sibsets with a [name_m]George[/name_m] and a [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] apart from the royal family, I’d use it.
I don’t think it’s an issue.
I did see the royal connection straight away, especially as it’s current, but they are probably common enough to be explained as a coincidence if you really don’t love anything other than [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
I’m in the U.S. and I thought of it immediately, but I don’t think it’ll be a big deal. Most people probably won’t think of it as quickly as I did, especially as not everyone will be introduced to [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_m]George[/name_m] together, and I find that when you become used to a name like [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and meet the sibling [name_m]George[/name_m], it just doesn’t come as quickly to you. Also, the [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family is a lovely reference to have. If you don’t hate the [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family, I would say go for it! But if the idea of the reference just doesn’t work for you, maybe just flip the two names: [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is equally lovely. good luck!
I think [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a wonderful suggestion. Otherwise, if the association doesn’t bother you, I’d go ahead. If it does, I don’t think you’ll escape it. I’m in [name_f]Canada[/name_f] and thought [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family right away.
I immediately think of the royal family, but I don’t think it’s a big deal.
The [name_u]Royal[/name_u] Family was the first thing I thought of. But that’s not a bad thing. It’s not a bad association, but if you don’t like it. I don’t know if you plan on having more kids, but if you do, they issue will disappear right away.
Also, [name_m]George[/name_m] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] will be refer as a combo until high school, probably. After that, they will both have different lives, different circles of people. And they will be individual people. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and just [name_m]George[/name_m].
With all of this in mind, I think it’s your decision. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is also a wonderful combo, just in case you decide you don’t want to use [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a first.
