Charlotte: WHY!?!?

After months of thinking and analyzing, my husband and I have chosen the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for our daughter who will be born in 3 weeks. ([name_m]Even[/name_m] ordered name decal for nursery!) I continue to have last minute doubts as it is such a big decision! I’ve searched through many posts to get a feel for thoughts and opinions on the name. Most people say they like or love it, but don’t really say why! If you like the name, I’m looking for some good, descriptive feedback on why you do. [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to get some confidence and calm last minute doubts as I’m nervous to make such a big decision naming another human being in a few short weeks!

The nickname [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], the literary reference, and the strong sound are what makes this name great.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a classic and timeless name. She’s ladylike and feminine but sounds strong. She’s elegant and sophisticated but she could be the girl-next-door. I like her vintage charm, her versatility (she goes well with many name styles) and her ability to age well (eg. baby girl [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] can become teenage tomboy [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and then professional grown-up [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]). Added bonus: she has great literary pedigree with wonderful namesakes.

I have adored this name for years!
It is so elegant, classic and regal! It has so many literary references, and lots of notable people have been [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
It has a great meaning, “strong woman”, which I think is so empowering to any little girl growing up.
It has quite a few cute nicknames, [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (my favourite), [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], etc
Lastly, it’s timeless. It’s a beautiful name that will never go out of fashion

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

[name_f]My[/name_f] grandmother’s name is [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. So [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] for me evokes wonderful personal associations and memories of holidays and other special days spent with her. She’s kind of a no-frills, tomboy, stuck in the sixties kind of lady.
The other [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] I know is a 15 year old blonde bombshell. She’s sassy and sweet and the boys trip all over themselves around her! So I have all around positive associations with the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Beautiful choice!

I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] because it sounds so feminine. I realize that not everyone is in to ultra feminine sounding names, but I am. Its sounds romantic and sweet. There is tons of great associations with the name. Plus, it is easy to pronounce and spell.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] all these thoughts. Super encouraging!!

I think [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is timeless and classy. [name_f]IMO[/name_f] you really can’t go wrong naming a child something so timeless, I mean, it’s been around so long for a reason. It also has lots of potential nicknames and I can see it working well on a baby, teenager and adult.

I know what you mean about being nervous though. We thought we had chosen [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] for our second daughter due this spring but now I’m having doubts

[name_f]Glad[/name_f] I’m not the only person experiencing doubts. People make baby naming seem so easy!

This!!!
Also I love the variety of nn’s that work. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite it [name_m]Chuck[/name_m] (like the character in Pushing Daisies). But between [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_m]Chuck[/name_m], [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], and [name_f]Char[/name_f] you can really choose a nn that’s fits your little girl - no matter who she decides she wants to be.

[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] is a name I can picture on all types of girls and woman, it is very versatile. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] has many nickname possibilities, my favorite being [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ages well. I can see it easily on a young child or an elderly woman and everyone in between.

This summarizes it perfectly.

I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. Such a rich and historical name with a gorgeous meaning. I also love nicknames [name_f]Lottie[/name_f] and [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]. Makes me think of a little girl with blonde ringlets and her head in a book. Oh and princesses!
