I’ve realized that my favorite girl names fall into two categories—sleek ([name_f]Sabine[/name_f], [name_u]Marion[/name_u]) and Celtic ([name_f]Aoife[/name_f], [name_f]Iona[/name_f], [name_f]Oona[/name_f])—but the vibe I’m getting from this pregnancy is warm and friendly, like the positive kid who is helpful in class or taking a nap outside on a nice day. An you guys help me come up with some cheery, spring, summer, and apples type names to think about?
For example, our boy list has names like [name_m]Fraser[/name_m], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], [name_m]Leo[/name_m], [name_m]Hank[/name_m], and [name_u]Finn[/name_u], all of which already seem cheery to me.
These names are all over the place, style-wise, but all feel friendly to me:
[name_f]Tallulah[/name_f]
[name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Maxine[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Frances[/name_f]
[name_f]Audrey[/name_f]
[name_u]Eloise[/name_u]
[name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Lucy[/name_f]
[name_f]Olive[/name_f]
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f]
[name_u]Teagan[/name_u]
[name_u]Reese[/name_u]
[name_f]Abigail[/name_f]
And I know what you mean—I love the name [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and wanted to use it for my daughter. But I knew early on that she was going to be mischievous and scheming and spunky and loud and all sorts of trouble, and she was not an [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], not even close.
Ooooo [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] is a great suggestion, and two of you said that and another said [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], so maybe [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] (or just [name_f]Tilda[/name_f]?). [name_f]Willa[/name_f], [name_f]Mabel[/name_f], [name_f]Annie[/name_f], [name_f]Merry[/name_f] (maybe short for [name_u]Meredith[/name_u]? anything else?), [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f], and [name_f]Frances[/name_f] all stood out to me. [name_f]Gretel[/name_f] reminded me of [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. Thanks everyone!
And don’t worry, @mummamarigold, [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] is still on the list, and very near the top. I just haven’t decided whether I am willing to give a child a lifetime of name spelling issues.
