What are your thoughts on [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] for a girl? I really love names that have a “cutesy” feel but are classy enough for an adult woman unlike [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] etc. I don’t feel that it’s as 80s/90s as [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], etc. I also despise [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u] (though they are very similar) as it feels sort of trashy and common. I feel that it is more in the same vein as [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] instead. What image does the name [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] conjure up/overall vibe in your opinion?
I’m also curious as to what middle names you think would work best with [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]? I love long classic names such as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f], [name_f]Catherine[/name_f]…
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] is my favorite name, and will be the name of our first born. That’s what DH would’ve been named if he was a girl, and honors his Aunt who lives in [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] ([name_u]London[/name_u]) as we are in the states. It’s so hard for me to find the perfect middle for [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u]. I’ve been hunting and hunting and haven’t found anything I love. Here are some I like:
I love [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u], but I do find it fits with [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_u]Ashley[/name_u] and [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] (all names i love) more than anything else. Theyre all the same 90s-early 00s, sweet, well-rounded girls name style for me.
Being that it’s my name, I have a certain fondness for it. haha Honestly, though, I always disliked it growing up and I still don’t like it a ton now. I feel like there are so many more interesting names out there that my mom could have chosen. Plus, she chose a strange spelling ([name_f]Chelsee[/name_f]) which, believe it or not, made people mispronounce it. Perhaps if my mom had chosen a more interesting middle name (she chose [name_f]Anne[/name_f]–honor name), my name as a whole would have sat better with me. I don’t know. lol I will agree with you that it isn’t as 80s/90s as [name_u]Ashley[/name_u], [name_f]Sarah[/name_f], [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], etc. I was the only [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] in my class almost all 18 years of school. I have only met three other Chelseas that I can recall. Two were my age or a bit older and one was probably…3-5 years younger. So it’s definitely not a common name, even among the people in the age range that corresponds to when it was popular (peaked in 1992 at #15).
Having no idea what your last name is and going mostly by sound alone, these are the names I would suggest–
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] ([name_f]Alexandria[/name_f], as a pp suggested, would be nice too)
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Brianna[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Beth[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_u]Rain[/name_u]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Joy[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_u]Alexis[/name_u]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Aubriana[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]
[name_u]Chelsea[/name_u] seems to lend itself well to one syllable middle names as long as your last name isn’t one syllable. =] On a side note, I’m pretty proud of myself that I didn’t end up misspelling the name throughout the entire post! lol
Out of your choices I like Josephine and Scarlett the most. What about Chelsea Annabelle, Chelsea Violet, Chelsea Theodora, Chelsea Victoria, Chelsea Rosamund, Chelsea Cordelia, Chelsea Primrose or Chelsea Madeleine?
You shouldn’t let anyone change your mind if you love the name Chelsea, but I personally find the name to be pretty boring. I’ve met tons of Chelsea’s. My sister’s name is actually Chelsea and she’s always hated the name (so has every other Chelsea that she’s ever had the conversation with). She doesn’t speak for all Chelsea’s of course! But according to her “there’s just nothing special or exciting about the name”. Luckily she was given a middle name that she loves and she’s been going by it for years now. She’s planning on switching the names around.
