Chevy for a girl?

I really, really love the name [name]Chevy[/name], and, the more I think about it, I would like to use it for my daughter. I’m not completely certain, as it is generally considered a boy’s name, but I always keep coming back to it. Is it too strange?

It doesn’t sound feminine to me. It makes me think of trucks. Pretty trucks, but trucks all the same. What about [name]Chanel[/name] or [name]Charlize[/name]?

Makes me think of trucks too. And [name]Chevy[/name] [name]Chase[/name]. Personally I wouldn’t want to put either of those associations on my little girl. Maybe [name]Charlotte[/name] or another soft Ch- prefix name like pp suggested, and use [name]Chevy[/name] as a nn. Or as a middle?

It makes me think of the [name]Ramona[/name] series, where she names her doll chevrolet bc she thinks it is the most beautiful name

I think it’s way too much of a car name for use on a girl OR a boy, personally. It might be cute and original as a mn, like [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Chevy[/name].

Sorry I don’t see the appeal of [name]Chevy[/name] for a girl or a boy. I don’t find the sound of the name very attractive.

Personally I am not a fan of it on either gender, but certainly not for a girl. It seems a lot like a nickname and there is incredible teasing potential. Can you really imagine when she gets to high school and the boys making jokes about riding the [name]Chevy[/name]??? Sorry I just don’t think its worth it.

ITA with previous posters. When I hear the name Chevy, I think of vehicles and Chevy Chase. The last thing I would be thinking of is an adorable little girl.

Yeah I would only associate it was a truck. There’s nothing feminine about it, and there’s a lot of teasing potential. Plus, like all car brands, I would find it to be rather downmarket. Sorry.

I dont even consider [name]Chevy[/name] or its source [name]Chevalier[/name] to be first names and cant imagine anyone I know in [name]France[/name] using them. I dont understand the trend of using titles, random words, objects, etc in foreign languages as names just because they look pretty.

Only if her siblings are [name]Ford[/name], [name]Saturn[/name], and Pontiac. Sorry not a fan.

When I hear a car name on a baby, I assume that either a) the child was conceived in that car or b) the parents wished they owned that car.

In this case, I would assume the child was conceived in a [name]Chevy[/name]. I’d also think of [name]Chevy[/name] [name]Chase[/name]. I’m going to have to give a thumbs down to this one. Perhaps as a middle name if you really love it.

My first daughter’s name happens to be a car. I like the name regardless and it has NO connection to the car, or the city for that matter, whatsoever. Anyone who instantly connects my daughter with either is overlooking her spirit. My second daughter’s name rhymes with [name]Chevy[/name]-so I apparently have you on both accounts. =-)
While I can see the cute in it (mainly from my daughter’s name), I immediately think [name]Chevy[/name] [name]Chase[/name] and masculanize the name.

My stepdad grew up with 2 friends that were sisters named [name]Chevy[/name] and [name]Sabra[/name]. I love these names. I think it’d be really cute

Eh, I’m not a fan of car names on babies.

You could conceivably name her [name]Cornelia[/name] and call her [name]Chevy[/name]. [name]Chevy[/name] [name]Chase[/name]'s real first name is [name]Cornelius[/name].

Ugh, all I can think of is someone working on a junker car in their driveway. That, and the incident in [name]Ramona[/name] the Pest when [name]Ramona[/name] named her doll Chevrolet, and everyone laughed at her.

It’s not an appealing name to me for either gender, sorry.

I have to agree with most everyone else on this, [name]Chevy[/name] does not sound like a nice girl name. I could maybe see it on a boy, but personally I don’t even like that. I knew someone with a dog named [name]Chevy[/name] because the husband was a [name]Chevy[/name] fan and mechanic… So not a name for a baby for me.

Strongly dislike this… it’s not suitable for anyone in my opinion.
