Since I’ve been searching for names for our little girl I’ve come across quite a few names that remind me of my childhood. [name_f]My[/name_f] favourite so far being [name_f]Winnie[/name_f] because I used to love [name_f]Winnie[/name_f]-the-pooh as a young child. [name_f]My[/name_f] parents even called me Pooh [name_m]Bear[/name_m] when I was born because they didn’t decide on a name for a week or two.
So I was wondering, what names remind you of your childhood?
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] : D. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom used to call me that. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t think it was a name she really considered for me, and has nothing to do with my name, [name_f]Jessica[/name_f] - I think it was that we lived in a Spanish speaking neighborhood and she was influenced by nina with the tilde, the word for girl.
I was obsessed with names at a young age, so a lot of names remind me of my childhood. I wanted to name my children [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_u]Golden[/name_u], Rosabell, [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and Soffy (prn. [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]) when I was 4-7 years old. [name_f]My[/name_f] sister wanted to name hers [name_f]Julya[/name_f] ([name_f]Julia[/name_f]), [name_f]Sara[/name_f], [name_f]Angela[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f]. [name_f]Angela[/name_f] and [name_f]Anna[/name_f] in particular remind me of my childhood, so does [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] as one of my favorite dolls was named [name_f]Louisa[/name_f]. But I spelled it Leweeza, not to be unique because I really thought that was how you spelled it. And I also watched “The Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f]” and misheard the [name_m]Von[/name_m] Trap children’s names when they were announcing them: I thought there were 2 children named [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] since I had heard “[name_f]Louisa[/name_f]” when [name_f]Liesl[/name_f] announced her name.
[name_f]Michelle[/name_f] - it was the name of my baby doll. I loved Full House when I was a little girl so I decided to name my doll [name_f]Michelle[/name_f]. I’ve loved that name all through my childhood.
[name_f]Jessica[/name_f] was my first baby doll’s name (also my godmother’s name)
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] was my first and only boy baby doll’s name.
I named my dolls [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], and I loved names already. Mostly the vintage-y ones that are popular now, like [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] and [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u]. I wonder if I bunch of us loved those forever and they boomed once we got to baby-having ages!
I also have a soft spot for characters from my favorite books as a kid, [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables: [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_u]Jo[/name_u], [name_f]Beth[/name_f], [name_f]Meg[/name_f], and [name_f]Anne[/name_f] all make me nostalgic, though in nickname form the [name_u]March[/name_u] girls sound remarkably like they’d be a set of sisters born from the late 70s through the mid-80s! Though in the 80s their full names would probably have been [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_f]Joanna[/name_f], [name_f]Bethany[/name_f] and [name_f]Megan[/name_f]
[name_m]Little[/name_m] House On The [name_u]Prairie[/name_u] names bring out the nostalgia too!
[name_f]Wendy[/name_f] – it was my beloved dolls name that I used to take everywhere with me…even when she feel apart, I carried her limbs, torso and head around in my arms. I do believe my initial intention was to call her [name_f]Windy[/name_f], but it was misunderstood.
[name_m]Tiger[/name_m] – my Dad rarely ever called me by name, but rather this nickname. I was always his [name_m]Tiger[/name_m], right up until the day he passed.
[name_f]My[/name_f] most beloved stuffed animal was a St. [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] I was given after getting my tonsils out when I was ~6… I named her [name_f]Bernice[/name_f] and she was the bomb
