Which one do you prefer: [name]Vivian[/name] or [name]Violet[/name]?
[name]Vivian[/name], for sure. It seems vibrant and elegant at the same time. [name]Violet[/name] has never been my favorite. The color itself is not really my thing, so maybe that’s why.
[name]Viola[/name]. Split the difference. It has the buzzy violin-vibration of [name]Violet[/name], but its imagery is less literal/flowery. It’s more formal and name-ish like [name]Vivian[/name], but more unusual than [name]Vivian[/name]. Great Shakespearean namesake too.
[name]Violet[/name]!
[name]Vivian[/name] brings up snooty cheerleader in my mind, but it is still a lovely name. I don’t think you can go wrong with either choice, to be honest.
This is exactly what I was going to say. lol.
I think I like [name]Vivian[/name] more. It feels stronger to me, it has a bit of an edge of [name]Violet[/name]. The “shy violet” connotation takes some points away from [name]Violet[/name]. I imagine a sweet but introspective type. [name]Vivian[/name] is a bit tougher and I like that. I think that sweet & vintage flower names feel a bit past their prime and [name]Vivian[/name] feels fresher. Also, [name]Violet[/name] doesn’t play well with word-name middles which is a bit limiting. I feel like if you use [name]Violet[/name] it also means you can’t name any siblings any names evocative of colors and I happen to like a lot of those a lot more, same with floral names!
[name]Violet[/name]! I don’t know why I’ve never really loved [name]Vivian[/name] as much as most people…. maybe b/c it’s [name]Julia[/name] [name]Roberts[/name]’ character in ‘Pretty Woman.’
The name [name]Violet[/name] makes me think of the flowers and [name]Violet[/name] Baudelaire, the Lemony Snicket character, and very pretty and proper things. All pleasant associations for it.
[name]Violet[/name], although [name]Vivian[/name] is beautiful it feels dated to me.
[name]Vivian[/name] for me
[name]Violet[/name], for sure.
[name]Vivian[/name] sounds harsh to me.
[name]Both[/name] are lovely but [name]Violet[/name] just makes me think of a prim and proper lady, which I love! So [name]Violet[/name] gets my vote
[name]Violet[/name]. [name]Every[/name] [name]Vivian[/name] I’ve met has been a bossy, stuck-up pain in the butt.
[name]Vivian[/name] because I think of [name]Violet[/name] in [name]Charlie[/name] and the Chocolate Factory.
[name]Vivian[/name] by far. I like the [name]Vivienne[/name] spelling way better though.
I love [name]Violet[/name]! I think it’s sweet. [name]Vivian[/name] sounds too…fancy? I dunno, it’s just not my style.
[name]Violet[/name] is one my favorites and if it weren’t a) so popular and b) starts with the same letter as my surname, it would be my #1 or #2 pick
Tough call! I considered both for my daughter.
I’ll have to go with [name]Vivian[/name] because that was our 1st runner up.
[name]Violet[/name]! I can appreciate [name]Vivienne[/name] (this spelling), and I think [name]Vivi[/name] is cute, but [name]Violet[/name] by far gets my vote. I adore it.
[name]Vivian[/name]. It’s spunky, classy, and has great nicknames.
[name]Violet[/name] just reminds me of lots of unpleasant words like vile, violent/violence, and violate.
I like both, but slightly prefer [name]Violet[/name].
