Christina?

Opinions on the name [name]Christina[/name]? Is it dated?

I have an amazing friend named [name]Christina[/name]. It definitely suits her. It is a little dated tho, [name]IMO[/name]. Since you’re a fellow Teen [name]Berry[/name], it might be in style by the time we have kids :stuck_out_tongue: Other options…maybe [name]Christiana[/name], [name]Carolina[/name], or [name]Catalina[/name]

I adore [name]Christina[/name]. It peaked in the '70s and '80s, so some will call it dated, but I call it retro, and I think retro is awesome. I think it would be refreshing to see on a child.

I think it’s a classic with that 70’s/80’s reputation, but I don’t know if it could really be dated…like [name]Sarah[/name] maybe? It’s my best friend’s name so it makes me think of her and she’s the most awesome girl ever!

Yes, it is dated to me.

It may sound dated here, but it’s a pretty name anyway and also quite stylish in Europe.

I like it, but only as a route to get to [name]Tina[/name], which I’m really crushing on at the moment. The “[name]Chris[/name]” beginning really puts me off because I think it makes it souns clunky and masculine. I’ve never met a [name]Christina[/name] so couldn’t say whether it’s dated or not, strangely I find [name]Christina[/name] to have an older vibe than [name]Tina[/name]

I second what alzora and taz said - it may be a bit dated, but it has plenty of history as a name so I don’t think it’s dated in a “bad” way. (For other examples I feel the same way about [name]Amy[/name] and [name]Melissa[/name].)

Its my name and I’ve never liked it. When I was a kid I always thought of it as an adults name whereas all my preschool friends had “kids names” (ex. [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Allie[/name], [name]Emily[/name] etc). I don’t think my name wears well on children and even though its classic it still has that 90’s feel to me. I think [name]Christina[/name] would make a great middle name though. Its technically a classic and goes well with a lot of other names, both classic and modern.

Yes, sorry. I also can’t help but think “Aguilera”.

I know a teenager named [name]Christina[/name] and it suits her well. It is much less dated than [name]Christine[/name].

I [name]LOVE[/name] it, it might be my favorite common classic name. I love the nicknames [name]Christy[/name], [name]Chrissy[/name], [name]Christa[/name], and [name]Tina[/name]. I think some consider it dated because there were a lot of them in the 70s, but it’s still popular now and I know young Christinas (I’m about to be a senior in high school and there’s one in my grade). I think the downfall of the name is that it’s been so consistently popular that it isn’t that surprising, like it isn’t a very head-turning or noticeable name. But I still love it!

I think it isn’t dated, and it will be refreshing to see a few little girls with names that are clear in terms of whether they are girls or boys and easy to spell! I volunteer, and have to meet the kids sometimes before I know which sex they are (can’t tell from the name if “[name]Hunter[/name]” is a boy or girl - it has turned out to be a girl sometimes.) and others where I can’t figure out how to pronounce the name until I ask them what their name is.

As an older [name]Berry[/name], my best friend’s name is [name]Christina[/name] (plus numerous friends of varying ages named [name]Christine[/name]). I think it is a beautiful name and not only ages well but can be a delightful name. All the people I know with with either variation suit their name to a 'tee".

These days I think it would be a refreshing change from the other classic names that are currently very popular…so I would say ‘go for it’!

Not sure.
I like [name]Christine[/name] soooooooooooo much more, and it’s just so much more sophisticated. Not a fan of [name]Christina[/name]

To me it is dated. It feel more like someone of my generation or even a little earlier. Apart from that, the [name]Christ[/name]- beginning of the name turns me off as I am non-religious.

My name is [name]Christina[/name] and I’m okay with it but there are so many nicknames! I’m called [name]Chrissy[/name], [name]Chris[/name], crista, stine, stina and steeny weenie (my dad)

I think [name]Christina[/name] should make a come back I prefer her so much more than [name]Elizabeth[/name] which is so boring and yet has a huge following. I like most of the nn’s but [name]Stina[/name] is just plain awful. I also like [name]Christiane[/name] but not a fan of [name]Christine[/name] as it sounds dated to me.

I do think [name]Christina[/name] is dated. But I have never been a fan of the name, so maybe I’m biased. I prefer [name]Christine[/name], but only slightly. I also don’t like most/all of the nicknames. [name]Chris[/name] is too masculine, I don’t like [name]Tina[/name] at all, [name]Chrissy[/name] sounds prissy. [name]Christa[/name] is the only one I’d consider somewhat okay. Maybe [name]Kirsten[/name] or some other international variant would be more appealing?

[name]Christina[/name] is a nice enough name, but I don’t personally like it. It is dated here (Australia), but not as dated as say, [name]Linda[/name] or [name]Stephanie[/name].
