Christmas Angel Names!

I’ve gotten it down to some finalists and now, this is where I’m at!

Background:

In my family, the Christmas tree topper is always an angel - and she always has a name. My grand-nana’s angel was Lillian, my Nana’s angel was Angelina, my mom’s is Gabrielle - mine is unnamed.

This is the first Christmas I’ve ever had my very own tree and angel to put on top (as kids my sister and I used Lillian - my sister uses her as she lives at home still, when we move out, she’ll be my mom’s, as she was technically left to her!)

When I was little my mom made a special day for my sister and I to go with the angels - our two (Gabrielle and Lillian, after my great grandmother passed away) used to “fly” to our house (from Heaven, I guess? my mom never specified ) in a velvet bag, and wrapped inside in a gold cloth to our house, and my dad, who usually “went to take the garbage out” would hide the bag on our doorstep and knock, then run away, and my sister and I would know the angels had arrived :stuck_out_tongue:

We’d bring them inside and each have to give them a hug to warm them up, and then tell them our Christmas wish before we put them up on the tree. Then after Christmas was over, we’d give them another hug and wrap them back up and set them back on the doorstep so they could fly back and then return the next Christmas. We’re in our twenties and even last year, my mom still did the knocking on the door tradition! My angel doesn’t have a bag or anything to fly around in, yet, but I imagine that when I have children to share the tradition with, my mom and I will make a bag together like she and my nana did for my sister and I!

Since we usually go the religious route with angel names, this is what I’m down to.

(For reference, this is what she looks like!)

Ariana - “most holy”
Belen - “Bethlehem”; birthplace of Christ / Bethlehem - birthplace of Christ
Christiana - “follower of Christ
Epiphany - "manifestation; striking appearance
Hallelujah - “God be praised” (according to Oxford English Dictionary)
Marisol - “Mary of Solitude” - a title of the Virgin Mary, “Our Lady of Solitude”
Milagros - “miracles”

Which of these do you think fits my angel the best?

  • [name_f]Ariana[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Belen[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Bethlehem[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Christiana[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Epiphany[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Marisol[/name_f]
  • [name_f]Milagros[/name_f]

Thank you! It’s probably my favourite family tradition we have! [name_u]Ever[/name_u] since I was little, I’ve had an obsession with angels too, lol I have a little collection (I have another one named [name_f]Hope[/name_f] and a small one from when I was christened who actually, also doesn’t have a name ).

I’m really between [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] and [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], but any of these would work!

Christiana would work best imo.

Thank you!! [name_f]Ariana[/name_f] does seem very well suited for an angel, doesn’t it?? I also love [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] in general, but I like the connection to [name_f]Mary[/name_f] for a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] angel too!

This is S/O’s current favourite as well

Me too! I have a collection of angels (I’ve loved them since I was little) and I have [name_f]Hosanna[/name_f] (recently named) and [name_f]Hope[/name_f], so [name_f]Hallelujah[/name_f] seems like a good fit :stuck_out_tongue: I just feel like I’d run out of H names if I continue collecting :joy:

Thank you! It’s one that’s super special to me, so I really want to keep it going, right down to naming my angel! lol. I did think about asking my mom for a name suggestion, but I know she’d suggest [name_f]Jubilee[/name_f], which I want to save for a daughter one day! :stuck_out_tongue:

I love this tradition!

Christiana is a perfect [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] name! I love [name_f]Epiphany[/name_f] too, but it doesn’t feel as [name_u]Christmas[/name_u]-y since it’s so soon after the holiday.

Thank you!! I get what you mean about [name_f]Epiphany[/name_f] though, I just love the sound tbh :joy:

I’m thinking, despite the popular vote, of naming her [name_f]Belen[/name_f]! After talking to my mom, she did say the big part of the tradition was [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] themed names ([name_f]Lillian[/name_f] ties into [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] lilies, [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] - angels, [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], after [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u], who told [name_f]Mary[/name_f] she would give birth to [name_m]Jesus[/name_m]), so [name_f]Bethlehem[/name_f]/Belen seemed very fitting. [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] was a very close second, but, as I have a collection of angels, I am using it for another one that I have  [name_f]Milagros[/name_f] and [name_f]Marisol[/name_f] are on the table for any new additions to the collection!

Meet [name_f]Belen[/name_f] (back), [name_f]Hosanna[/name_f] (left), [name_f]Hope[/name_f] (centre) and [name_f]Christiana[/name_f] (right)! :two_hearts:

Oh those angels are gorgeous  :innocent: ! They have beautiful names!

Thank you! I love angels, so I’ve got a bit of a collection  [name_f]Hosanna[/name_f] I’ve had since I was a baby, but she never really had a name until now lol. The others are all much more recent additions! I have an [name_u]Angel[/name_u] teddy bear as well named Angelbear from when I was little

Oh that’s wonderful  ! I have an angel my grandma gave me!
