would people pronounce it like [name]SEAL[/name] instead of see-[name]EL[/name]?
the actual word is ciel, but i think adding the extra l makes it a bit more girly…what do you think? i could also do it ciele
would it go well with iris? iris means rainbow and ciel means sky…our other children’s names are all sea themed (wish i had maybe been a bit more diverse at this point)…so it kind of matches in a spinoff kind of way…
I like it but the [name]Seal[/name] pronunciation would concern me a little. I think I like the [name]Ciel[/name] spelling with [name]Iris[/name] but it probably does look a little masculine.
Does this name have to have a sea theme or just a nature theme like sky and rainbow?
[name]Love[/name] this name! It’s gorgeous. I think the pronunciation is obvious, but I’m sure as with any unusual name, some people won’t get it. But it’s easy, so they’ll get it quickly. I think you’d have more pronunciation troubles with [name]Ciel[/name].
When I first saw your post on the board, I automatically pronounced it in my head as ‘See-[name]Ell[/name]’, not [name]Seal[/name].
I think if you were to spell it [name]Ciel[/name], her name would not be pr. the way you’d like it to be nearly as often…
‘[name]Ciel[/name]’, [name]IMO[/name], appears to be pr. more like ‘[name]Seal[/name]’ or have a hard ‘C/K’ sound, ie: Key-elle, Keel, etc.
I think this is a very pretty, feminine name.
I love [name]Ciel[/name] or Cielle - the French pronunciation of [name]Ciel[/name] though is quite different, just one quick syllable that is awfully close to [name]Seal[/name] in English… therefore I think if you want those TWO syllables, Cielle is for you!

I don’t think it goes well with [name]Iris[/name] at all. [name]Iris[/name] is a lovely, classic, sophisticated name and Cielle is a trendy, misspelled French word. If you want a name that means ‘sky’, how about [name]Celia[/name], [name]Alia[/name], [name]Sora[/name], or [name]Lani[/name]? Also, Ciela is actually a legitimate Esperanto name; I like it much better than Cielle.
[name]Celia[/name] and [name]Iris[/name] would be stunning! I never knew the alternative meaning for [name]Celia[/name] was sky/heaven. I think it’s beautiful and works so much better with [name]Iris[/name] than [name]Ciel[/name] does.
