Hmm could someone try to explain to me why most people prefer the [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] spelling opposed to [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]? [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] seems more complicated to me. Complicated to spell, confusing to pronounce. Maybe I’m just weird haha however I am open if someone could explain the preferred spelling a bit :slight_smile:

[name_f]Madeline[/name_f]- I like this spelling! BUT if it’s this spelling then I say MAD-eh-[name_f]LINE[/name_f] (like the [name_m]French[/name_m] girl character)
If you want Mad- eh- [name_u]LYN[/name_u] go your bottom choice.
I know [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is the Nameberry favourite spelling but I agree with you: “Complicated to spell, confusing to pronounce.” 99% of the population would never spell it like that and certainly wouldn’t say mad-eh-lyn.

[name_u]Madison[/name_u]- I like, but I do feel is becoming a bit dated.

I’m assuming that [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is pronounced the same as [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]? That’s the one I voted for because I feel like it flows the best out of the three.

Yes [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] is pronounced the same as [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (both rhyme with vine).

I still feel like going with the [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] spelling because no one has given me a good argument so far for the other [name_m]French[/name_m] spelling lol

I agree with this. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], to me looks more complete and not like Made and line joined together.
