Clara Louise or Louisa Claire?

They are both pretty. They both have a nice flow. My pick would be [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] since I like the nn [name]Lou[/name] or [name]Loulou[/name].
[name]Clara[/name] doesn’t really have a nn. I also like [name]Claire[/name] much better than [name]Clara[/name]. I both like [name]Louise[/name] and [name]Louisa[/name].
It is pretty easy for me to choose, but I can see why you would be having trouble. Nice combos.

I can’t answer the nickname question for you, but for me, any child I name will have a nickname- it’s just how I roll (for example, I love [name]Eloise[/name] for the nicknames lulu and even weezie… I may be the only person on the planet who likes weezie though! I guess because I read a novel with a weezie as the protagonist who totally pulled it off)
I will add though that I would not likely give someone else’s child a nickname if I heard the child or both parents always use the full name. Other kids shortening it, in my experience that’s likely with most names over two syllables.

My middle name is [name]Louise[/name] and I’ve never really loved it, but it sounds nice with [name]Clara[/name]. I’m not a huge fan of either [name]Louise[/name] or [name]Louisa[/name], and I do think they are both likely to get shortened to [name]Lou[/name] (although I have never met anyone with either name).

Oh dear, Linguaphile, can I be honest? I’m not a nickname fan (I hate when people try to shorten my name. Ugh.). I’m especially wary for a beautiful name like [name]Louisa[/name], and my biggest fear is that people would start calling her either [name]Lou[/name] or Weezy. Oh boy. What do y’all think? Would you intuitively nickname a [name]Louisa[/name]?

I am the mother of a little [name]Louisa[/name] (who will be 3 in [name]November[/name]). I actually tried to call her [name]Lou[/name] for a while, but it just didn’t feel right. Sometimes I call her [name]Lou[/name]-Lous if I’m feeling silly, but she’s almost exclusively [name]Louisa[/name].

I guess time will tell as she becomes school age whether her peers will come up with a nickname for her, but I agree with other posters that Wheezy seems pretty unlikely.

By the way, [name]Louisa[/name] [name]Claire[/name] is obviously my choice.

Edit: I was just thinking, regarding nicknames, I think everyone will follow your lead as to what your daughter is called. None of our family members or friends call our daughter anything but Louisa. The same goes for our son, Frederik. He’s definitely not a Freddie or Fred, mostly because we only call him by his full name. Good luck deciding.
