Clark or Vaughn?

I’m 7 months with our second child, a boy, and my husband and I are stuck between [name_m]Clark[/name_m] and [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]. His sister’s name is [name_f]Greta[/name_f].

[name_m]Clark[/name_m]
pros: easy to spell, pronounce, well-known but not currently super-popular
cons: I can’t quite picture myself calling a baby “[name_m]Clark[/name_m]”! Also has potential to become overly popular in coming years

[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]
pros: We like names that aren’t currently popular, and this fits the bill. Also, very masculine name, strong, etc. and has a relationship to “[name_m]Paul[/name_m],” which was my grandfather’s name
cons: hard to spell, maybe hard to pronounce… our last name is one we always have to spell out for people, so we may be dooming him to a life of spelling out two names.

What do you all think? I am making myself crazy with this decision!

thank you!!

Definitely [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. It is classic and familiar but also ranks at a near #400. It is also an adorable “grown up name” for a little man that will grow with him as he uses it on resumes and business cards. [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] (and it is completely my opinion) just doesn’t have the substance and potential for maturity that [name_m]Clark[/name_m] does…

My immediate reaction was to say [name_m]Clark[/name_m], but with sister [name_f]Greta[/name_f] I like [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] better. I don’t see spelling and pronunciation being too much of a problem.

If you are still not sure about either, maybe consider [name_m]Vance[/name_m]/ [name_m]Vince[/name_m] instead of [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]? Similar feel, fit well with [name_f]Greta[/name_f], and not too popular but easier to spell and pronounce.

Definitely [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. Ditto to @mommareagon’s comments. I find it to be masculine, handsome, and I can see it on a little boy or an adult

I’d go with [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]. I like [name_m]Clark[/name_m] but stylistically [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] would go better with [name_f]Greta[/name_f].

If you can’t picture yourself calling your son [name_m]Clark[/name_m], then it isn’t the name. [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] is a nice choice. Seeing as how parents are becoming increasingly inventive with the spellings of their kids’ names, I suspect that every child will grow up spelling their name for people regardless of what their name is.

I prefer [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. When I hear [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] I immediately picture [name_u]Ricky[/name_u] [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] from the movie [name_m]Major[/name_m] League. [name_u]Ricky[/name_u] [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] was played by [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] [name_m]Sheen[/name_m]. Not exactly who I would want associated with my boy.

I really like [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m].

[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] goes great with [name_f]Greta[/name_f].
[name_m]Clark[/name_m] is fine, but I think [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] is better.

[name_m]Clark[/name_m] is my brother’s name and it’s such an awesome name! I’ll be honest, when he was a baby I remember calling him Clarkie. So, while not the best nickname, maybe it will help you picture it on a baby? I do agree that [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] goes better with [name_f]Greta[/name_f]. I like them together a lot. I wouldn’t worry about having two names that have to be spelled out. I always spell out both of my names for people and I don’t feel burdened by it at all.

My vote goes to [name_m]Clark[/name_m]. Classy but not common.
I do think you’ll have to spell [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] a good bit.

What middle name have you chosen? If you’re worried about what to call him you could always use a J in the middle and use CJ.

I like [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] better but I don’t think the spelling would be such a big issue because the name is actually very common imo

[name_m]Clark[/name_m] gets my vote. Not a fan of [name_m]Vaughn[/name_m]

[name_m]Vaughn[/name_m] has my vote…
