Clémence?

Clémence is a recent name-crush of mine. It’s French, which I like, and it’s just got a very pretty sound - I like it a lot better than [name]Clementine[/name]. I live in [name]Canada[/name], so pronouncing the accent correctly shouldn’t be a problem. So. Thoughts?

Second, I was thinking about mn’s. I like either Clémence [name]Elena[/name]/[name]Alaina[/name] (after my cousin), Clémence [name]Daisy[/name], or Clémence [name]Posey[/name] (which I really like, except for the fact that it’s ridiculously close to the name of the actress Clémence [name]Po[/name]ésy). So my second question for you guys is, what do you think of these combos, and do any others come to mind?

Yes, the name [name]Clemence[/name] makes me think of the actress [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Poesy[/name], so I think you should stay away from the [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Posey[/name] combo.

I think it’s a pretty name, albeit pretentious. But I agree that it’s prettier than [name]Clementine[/name]. It sounds less harsh, more elegant.

Clémence [name]Rosa[/name]
Clémence [name]Lucy[/name]/[name]Lucie[/name]
Clémence [name]Ruby[/name]
Clémence [name]Maeva[/name]
Clémence [name]Vera[/name]

I hope that helps!

I love it, but I’m half-French and everyone in the US seems to think it’s hard to say or masculine. shrug However if you live in a part of [name]Canada[/name] where you’re surrounded by people that are used to French names ten PLEASE go for it. It’s gorgeous. I definitely would have made the [name]Poesy[/name]-[name]Posey[/name] connection so that’s a no for me. I think the flow with [name]Daisy[/name] is a bit disjointed. I think it works well with [name]Elena[/name]/[name]Alaina[/name] though and family names are sometimes a nice extra nod.

I’m not a big fan of Clémence, mostly because my father uses the term “[name]Clem[/name]” to call us when we do something stupid or silly.
And it’s just not a nice looking/sounding name to me either.

I prefer [name]Elena[/name]/[name]Alaina[/name] in the middle, I totally think of Clémence [name]Po[/name]ésy when I see that combo.
Where in [name]Canada[/name] do you live? I live in [name]Ontario[/name] and in my city it’s more likely to be prn [name]Clem[/name]-ence

I think it’s great and in the past year I have met 3, it’s very popular in France right now!

Like Neuilly said, if you live in an area where French names are familiar than I say definitely go for it. If East93 is right and other Canadians are going to say it differently I don’t think it should be a deal breaker, some names like Clémence, Joséphine or Béatrice will still work but you have to decide if you’re ok with that.

As for your combos if you’re prn it the French way then I don’t think Daisy or Posey (which is too close to Clémence Poésy for me) flows very well.

It is very very pretty. [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Elena[/name] looks more natural to me. I like [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Juliet[/name] and [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Rosalie[/name].

I like [name]Clemence[/name] a lot (although I like [name]Clementine[/name] too)-- and [name]Clemmie[/name] is a cute nn. I think [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Elena[/name] works well. Some other suggestions are:

[name]Clemence[/name] [name]Maud[/name]
[name]Clemence[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Clemence[/name] [name]Elisabeth[/name]
[name]Clemence[/name] [name]Irene[/name]

Honestly I have an aversion to French names, I think [name]Clementine[/name] is a lot prettier. I am also a Canadian and with the pronounciation I think it depends whether you live in the [name]East[/name] or the [name]West[/name]. I have lived in both and in the [name]West[/name] there aren’t a lot of people who are familar with French names, in the [name]East[/name] there are.

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Clemence[/name]! I have a friend with this name and it fits her perfectly. She’s graceful and beautiful.
I like [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] and the suggestions of [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Juliet[/name].

Best wishes!

[name]Clemence[/name] [name]Daisy[/name] doesn’t flow but [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name] (which means [name]Daisy[/name] in French) is gorgeous.

I love it too.
My favourite would be Clémence [name]Elena[/name]/[name]Alaina[/name]. Also love the idea of [name]Clemence[/name] [name]Marguerite[/name].
