Clementine?

I feel terrible for spamming the forums with these names but ha! Once again, I am stumped! I brought up the name [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] to SO and she said it sounded like [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] to her and really quite liked it and in fact, she’s taken to calling one of the babies [name_u]Lemon[/name_u]/Little [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] which is just making my heart melt and selling me on the name a little! But I feel like its a tad bit too out there compared to my other names! For context, [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] nn [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] are my current LOs and baby to be #1 is [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. Is [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] one of those names that only works on Nameberry and is actually a little cringy IRL? I don’t mind either pronunciation, though, being unAmerican myself my natural pronunciation is -TEEN, though I assume a lot of the people we’re going to be meeting considering we live in the US might use -TINE which I don’t mind but -TINE does clash with our last name a little I think. I would use the nicknames [name_u]Clem[/name_u]/Cleo interchangeably I think, because they’re both so sweet to me. I’m really worried about how “Much” the name is though, compared to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! [name_f]Do[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] even sound like sisters? [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_u]Clem[/name_u]? And does [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] B!ng sound too much like a hooker or a cartoon character? Would [name_u]Clem[/name_u] B!ng help with that? I’m sorry I have so many questions, haha, but I can’t in good conscience name a child something without double checking  Lastly, any other things you might wanna add about your opinion on this name in terms of wear-bility/style/associations(other than the song hahah)/sound?

I can only give my opinion but i’ve always hated this name! No offence to anyone who likes it/has little ones called it but it instantly makes me think of oranges  and i also hate the nickname “[name_u]Clemmie[/name_u]/Clemmy”. I much prefer [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]/Nora to [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]!

This is an unpopular opinion on NB but I don’t really like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. I can’t get passed the song association, which I find a bit depressing :/. Lots of people on here love it though, and it does work with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] imo.

I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] works with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] especially if you’re into using nicknames. [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_u]Clem[/name_u] or even [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] would sound great imo. I’m from england and I would say TINE rather than TEEN so I don’t think that sounds too ‘American’.
In general i think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a sweet and elegant name, I’ve never met a [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] IRL but I have heard of people using it so it’s definitely not unheard of. Also I’ve never heard the song so that has no connections to me.

Don’t feel terrible, we’re here because we love answering these questions!

Personally [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] doesn’t strike me as too out there and it has rather a classic vibe to it I think. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] would make an adorable sibset and would go well with [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_f]Lucille[/name_f]! As an American I would definitely assume -TINE was the pronunciation but if I heard someone introduce themselves with -TEEN or if I was corrected once I wouldn’t forget and it wouldn’t be an issue.

I like it! It definitely feels like the same vibe as [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] to me, it’s classic and a little vintage but not dated, and has some great nickname options. I personally prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] to [name_u]Clem[/name_u] but both would go nicely with [name_f]Nora[/name_f]. And [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] is adorable for at home!

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] isn’t my cup of tea, personally. But, sounds wise, I think it sounds really good with your other kids’ names, and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. It has that same vintage/old-fashioned vibe to it, so I like the style of all the names together.

I love it and I think it totally fits with your sibset .

In fact it’s a nice bookend as [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are so classic whereas [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] are a little bit funky and both nature names.

I absolutely love the name [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] and don’t find it out there at all. Maybe it’s a location thing - I’m in Australia and whilst it’s not necessarily popular, I do hear it around occasionally. It’s definitely not considered odd or ‘out there’ here. There’s actually an Australian feminist writer named [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_m]Ford[/name_m].

I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] ‘[name_u]Clem[/name_u]’ (Lemon is quite cute too and I also think Tiny is sweet!) goes perfectly with [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! They have the same vibe to me (more so Jasper, Eleanor and Clementine); a little vintage but still fresh and very usable. [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_m]Bing[/name_m] sounds good to me either way you pronounce it.

In terms of pronunciation, I think unless you’re in [name_f]France[/name_f] or Belgium (and maybe some other European non-[name_f]English[/name_f] speaking countries) people will assume the last syllable rhymes with ‘line’. But if you wanted it said the French way you could always correct people. It isn’t difficult for [name_f]English[/name_f] speakers to say.

I adore [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] BTW. Great name!

I’m neutral on [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but I think it’s a cute name and not too out there! I love the family nickname [name_u]Lemon[/name_u]! I prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] over [name_u]Clem[/name_u]. I think [name_f]Tina[/name_f] could also work as a nickname, especially with the pronunciation -teen.
If you’re looking for middle names, I’m loving [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f].

That’s all

I love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] so much! It’s one of my favorite names. I think it’s so sweet and spunky, and it has so many great nickname options! It doesnt feel too out there at all, it actually gives me a vintage feel.
It fits in perfectly with your other childrens names to me. I personally prefer the “-tine” pronunciation, but the “-teen” one is sweet too!
[name_f]Emmie[/name_f] is my favorite nickname for it, but I think [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_u]Clem[/name_u] are both so pretty! I don’t think [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] B!ng sounds like anything bad at all! Also, I love [name_u]Lemon[/name_u] as a nn so much! [name_m]How[/name_m] cute!!

Overall, I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] “[name_f]Nora[/name_f] + [name_u]Clem[/name_u]/Cleo” sound so perfect together to me!!

([name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to add, I first heard the name in the film Eternal [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] of the Spotless Mind, and I fell in love!)

I think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a nice name, though I can’t get behind the nickname [name_u]Clem[/name_u]. What other nicknames are there for this name, besides [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]?

I don’t think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is too out there but I don’t care for the NNs that go with it.

And would find myself constantly singing the song. Oh my darling, Oh my darling [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]…

I don’t really like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], but it does go well with your other names. I much prefer nn [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] to [name_u]Clem[/name_u] tho.

Clementine is beautiful and I think it fits with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nn [name_f]Nora[/name_f] perfectly! I love the nn [name_u]Clem[/name_u]

I want to like [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] but for some reason I just can’t. I think it’s the nicknames. I think it works well as a MN however.

I really like the nickname [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] for [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]!

I know two Clementines. One goes my [name_u]Clem[/name_u] and the other [name_u]Clemmie[/name_u]. I think it works well with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

Jasper [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] is just amazing!

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], it’s not my style. But the fact that [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] is a type of rock (right?) and [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]’s middle is [name_f]Violet[/name_f], ties them together nicely with [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]. It would be cute if [name_f]Nora[/name_f] had a nature-type middle as well. It would be subtle but a nice connection. I don’t think [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is too out there at all, and as someone said, [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] fits perfectly with the others. I know of one little [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] IRL (she has a sister with a floral name) and I always thought they were sweet together.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] again.

I love [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], & think that it’s absolutely perfect w/Jasper, [name_f]Lucille[/name_f] & [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Old fashioned & a little quirky. [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] is so cute & four letters! I think that [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] B!ng is probably fine. I also like the nn [name_f]Minnie[/name_f]. [name_u]Clem[/name_u] sounds a little blah to me for some reason.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.
