Thoughts on the sibset: [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Clio[/name_f]?
Which spelling of [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clio[/name_f] do you like better?

Thoughts on the sibset: [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Clio[/name_f]?
I prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] as it looks like a name for a child to me whereas [name_f]Clio[/name_f] reminds me of the car.
In my mind [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] could work well together but I can’t help feeling they are somewhat different in style.
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] for sure. I don’t know why, but to me [name_f]Clio[/name_f] feels sort of aggressively antiseptic, like it should be the name of a villain in a minimalist dystopian novel. Whereas [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] feels adventurous and just generally fantastic (and has been my #3 girls name for ages.)
And I agree with pp about [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f]. I’m not opposed, but they’re definitely very different styles.
I prefer [name_f]Clio[/name_f]. Something about the ‘i’ feels more mythological and magical to me. [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] just seems normal and less special. I quite like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] together, they’re different styles, but they’re both nice names and differences in style have never bothered me much.
I don’t know what spelling i prefer but the [name_f]Alice[/name_f] & [name_f]Clio[/name_f]/[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] sib-set I think will work
If you want it pronounced “clee-oh,” I prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]. There is a town in Michigan called [name_f]Clio[/name_f] that is pronounced “clye-oh,” not far from where my extended family lives. It’s difficult for me to see that spelling and pronounce it the other way.
I prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]. I just like the look of it better. And I think people would be thrown off by the [name_f]Clio[/name_f] spelling " [name_f]Do[/name_f] you say it Kly-oh, or Clee-oh?" Unlike others, I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f]/[name_f]Clio[/name_f] go well together, they’re both vintage and fun and short and spunky. I’d probably stay away from the [name_f]Clio[/name_f] spelling with the sister [name_f]Alice[/name_f], because they look a lot alike. I think [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] looks better written down.
I personally prefer [name_f]Clio[/name_f]. It sounds and looks so sleek and streamlined, and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] to me seems a bit like a pets’ name. I like [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] as a sibset, though. [name_m]Both[/name_m] names are in my Top 10!
I definitely prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f].
[name_f]Clio[/name_f] looks really wrong to me, like it’s a bad word wrong. I’d say go with [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], plus it looks better with [name_f]Alice[/name_f].
I much prefer [name_f]Clio[/name_f]. It’s a whole name, whereas [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] seems more like its short for [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]. [name_f]Clio[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] are a little mismatched, but I see nothing wrong with that. They sound nice together.
I like [name_f]Cleo[/name_f].
[name_f]Clio[/name_f] reminds me of a part of the female anatomy. But that is probably just me.
[name_f]Clio[/name_f] reminds me of clitoris
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] reminds me of [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f]
I prefer the latter!
I pronounce them both differently myself. I prefer [name_f]Clio[/name_f] (CLYE-oh), but I do like [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] (CLEE-oh) too. I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] are fantastic together - such an unexpected pair, rather different in style, but compliment one another wonderfully.
I much prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f].
[name_f]Clio[/name_f] makes me think of either the car, or a clitoris. (Sorry to be weird!)
And I think [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] and [name_f]Alice[/name_f] are a brilliant set!
I personally see a difference in origin, which makes me prefer [name_f]Clio[/name_f].
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f] is obviously short for [name_f]Cleopatra[/name_f], so has Egyptian ties.
Whereas [name_f]Clio[/name_f] was the Greek goddess of history. Although I’ve also seen her name spelled ‘Kleio’ or ‘[name_f]Klio[/name_f]’, and pronounced both ‘klee-oh’ and ‘kly-oh’.
[name_f]Cleo[/name_f], definitely, [name_f]Clio[/name_f] is too associated with the car for me.
@jessicalucy- [name_m]How[/name_m] I forgot [name_f]Clio[/name_f] was the muse of history I don’t know (I did a thread about for crying out loud!). That really tops it for me, as I love history, and [name_f]Clio[/name_f] is closer to Kleio, which I like, but may be a bit of an issue pronunciation wise.
I prefer [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] as well. Not a fan of it with sister [name_f]Alice[/name_f] though. I don’t care if a sibset is mismatched (well… a bit) but it seems unfair to give one girl a very known classic which has been steadily used for ages and bestow the other girl with a name that hasn’t been in the Top 1000 for a long time.
Either you end up with the “boring” name (in comparison) or you end up with the “weird, out there” name.
I agree with anaxandra entirely.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] and [name_f]Cleo[/name_f] are cute together.
If you go with [name_f]Clio[/name_f], she’ll be forever having to spell it out correctly. People will spell it with an “e” her entire life and she’ll have to correct them.
