Colby?

What do you guys think of [name_u]Colby[/name_u]?

Does it sound too 2000, or was its popularity spike not big enough to make it dated?

Be honest, thanks!

I met a 5 year old with the name [name_u]Colby[/name_u] a few years back and i thought it was really sweet

I think [name_u]Colby[/name_u] is adorable. The only [name_u]Colby[/name_u] I know is a newborn.

Thanks! It seems to be showing as a unisex name in nameberry. Is this often used for girls? I prefer names where the sex of the child is obvious.

Hm I would have assumed [name_u]Colby[/name_u] was a boy. I haven’t heard of a girl with this name before.

I would’ve originally assumed that [name_u]Colby[/name_u] was a boy, but there’s an actress named [name_u]Colby[/name_u] (not sure on spelling) in [name_m]How[/name_m] I Met Your Mother and the Avengers movies, so more people might be using it for girls now. I don’t think it’s going to be a huge girl’s name though, I think it’s a sweet choice for a boy.

In my ignorance, it doesn’t sound 2000 at all. It sounds like a cheese of which I am fond. I like [name_u]Colby[/name_u].

I the only [name_u]Colby[/name_u] I know is my age (21) so I don’t find it that trendy or dated. I would assume a [name_u]Colby[/name_u] would be a boy, I don’t see it working well on a girl. However I prefer [name_u]Colby[/name_u] as a nickname for [name_m]Colton[/name_m].

I looked it up because it was bothering me that I couldn’t remember the name. [name_m]Cobie[/name_m] (not [name_u]Colby[/name_u], sorry I was wrong!!) Smulders in the [name_m]How[/name_m] I Met Your Mother Actress. Also I just remembered the singer [name_u]Colbie[/name_u] Callait, also female.

It does feel dated to me. I prefer it on a boy.

[name_u]Colby[/name_u] has been on my boys list a long time. I don’t think it’s dated and I think most people would assume it’s a boys name due to the first syllable Col.

I know only two Colbys. One boy and one girl, both mid to late twenties. I wouldn’t call it dated because it’s used so infrequently that I don’t think it’s tied too strongly to one decade
