Colposcopy

I know that this is really gross and way too personal… I’m not going to keep saying that, just putting it out there, I know.

I had an abnormal pap, so they did a colposcopy. They took two biopsies. I’m getting pretty worried because the bleeding has really picked up. This was done on [name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] and I’m bleeding like a regular period, which for me is pretty heavy. I don’t have a fever, and there isn’t any discharge or pain beyond cramping. I had this done six years ago and it wasn’t a problem… there was maybe a day of light discharge. I am about 17 days late (and according to the 11 tests I’ve taken, not pregnant), so maybe the procedure reminded my uterus that it’s supposed to be doing something. I’m also not taking things easy at all. I can’t. I’m alone all day with a very active and rambunctious little boy. I’m still running after him, being climbed, climbing over all of the baby gates, and picking him up all the time. I don’t really have any other choice.

I just don’t want it to be infected. I’ve followed their instructions, besides taking things easy. I don’t know when to call or what to do.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you have the option to speak to a nurse if you call your doctor? I’ve used that option so many times (I’m a panicker) for myself and my kids. I’ve never had that procedure done, but I did notice that with each subsequent baby I have, I have much heavier bleeding, and I really think it’s because I’m too busy to take it easy like they say to-it’s never been caused by anything serious. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you’re ok!

Definitely check in with your doctor/provider or at least his/her nurse. When you call you’ll usually be directed to a nurse’s hotline of some kind (or answering service) and they should return your call soon.

You could also go to a local urgent care. When in doubt, get somebody to take you in so you won’t have to drive or deal with your little one by yourself.

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] you feel better soon!
