Column A or Column B?

I’m torn between two styles.

Let’s call Column A
Simply [name]Lovely[/name]
These are names that are a little old-fashioned but not heavy, mostly fairly short either in letters or syllables, very classic, not particularly strange or excessive in any way. A bit nature-feeling but in a green, herbal way, not sugar-roses.

[name]Ivy[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Hazel[/name]
[name]Mae[/name]
[name]Jane[/name]
[name]Briar[/name]
[name]Lily[/name]
[name]Blythe[/name]
[name]Martha[/name]

Column B
Eccentric Classics
These are a rather long, flowery names. They have history and weight.

[name]Rosamund[/name]
[name]Viola[/name]
[name]Beatrice[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Zephirine[/name]
[name]Esmeralda[/name]
[name]Vivienne[/name]
[name]Marigold[/name], [name]Mariposa[/name], [name]Magnolia[/name], etc. (No, I would not have all three, I promise)

Now, I know it’s only my own issues keeping me from mixing and matching and FN/MN can be one of each and that’s fine, but as far as FNs, I don’t feel like it’s ever really going to be cool to have [name]Esmeralda[/name], [name]Zephirine[/name], and [name]Jane[/name], or conversely, [name]Mae[/name], [name]Claire[/name], and [name]Rosamund[/name], you know? Doesn’t seem fair, someone’s going to have the “weird” or “boring” name.

I have one name I see branching both lists - I can see [name]Marie[/name] having tea with [name]Zephirine[/name] and [name]Viola[/name], or [name]Marie[/name] in the garden with [name]Blythe[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name].

You don’t have to review each name if you don’t want, but are you Column A or Column B?

Or would you move any of the names around from one list to another?

Or do you think they [name]DO[/name] all blend?

In general, column A. Which is odd, because I thought my favorites were always on the longer side, light, flowery. I guess I like the length of column B and the feeling of column A. I really love [name]Viola[/name] (prefer [name]Violet[/name], though) and [name]Annabel[/name] from column B, though, and would try and find a way to add that to column A. Otherwise, A all the way. [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Claire[/name], [name]Annabel[/name], [name]Viola[/name]/[name]Violet[/name], [name]Hazel[/name], [name]Lily[/name], [name]Jane[/name], and [name]Briar[/name] are my favorites, in general.

Good luck!

I am with Column A.

You could probably move [name]Beatrice[/name] over to Column A, it is much softer than all the others.

I could see a [name]Vivienne[/name] [name]Ivy[/name], a [name]Hazel[/name] [name]Viola[/name], a [name]Beatrice[/name] [name]Jane[/name], a [name]Claire[/name] [name]Rosamund[/name], [name]Marigold[/name] [name]Martha[/name] and a [name]Lily[/name] [name]Esmeralda[/name] as five little sister, dressed in princess outfits having a tea party in the back yard.

You just have to balance all the names out.

~[name]Jasmine[/name]

I think I like a little of both:) I like some more simple and light names and some longer more frilly names. [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Claire[/name] and [name]Jane[/name] appeal to me for the more simple side of things. [name]Susannah[/name], [name]Rosamund[/name], [name]Vivienne[/name]/[name]Viviana[/name] appeal to me for the longer, weightier names. If you use one of each style, they can balance each other out, I think.

I like column A best. I do think though, that [name]Annabel[/name] and [name]Susannah[/name] would go just fine with the column A names.
